He wasn't too bad a governor, decshak. (I lived in Virginia while he held
office.) Still, he's a bit too close to the radical right for me...

And Allen may well be our next (or one of the next) president, Wiley. It
goes to show, however, that people in the public eye must forever be very aware of what they're saying and doing.

Putting a little poison on the thorn might be fun as we try to really
jam it home....

Same sort of politics north of your border my friend.
We have a Conservative leader of the opposition in Ontario, John Tory, who made a caustic comment about our Prime Minister Jean Chretien's face a few years ago.
You see the PM had been stricken with polio as a lad and it left him with a facial impediment.
Cruel, unkind sort of thing like your man, but I do think he'll be the next premier of the Province of Ontario.

Yes, his dad is George Allen, the famous Redskin football coach. That's
the first time I've heard the pneumonia story, however, but it may be true. I thought he was retired when he died, though.

I don't think the remarks, taken by themselves, are such a big deal ...
The noose/confederate flag combo, however, is somewhat more troubling.
Btw, wasn't his father that coach who died of pneumonia after his players doused him with ice-cold Gatorade following victory in a game played in sub-thermal temperatures?
Cause my boyfriend says it is.
Many people don't realize that playing dead can help not only with bears,
but also at important business meetings.
