Freemanwalking, I've been to Applebee's, there are a few around, but it's

never been a hangout. However, I agree: any port in the storm, when you have a book you can't put down.

My problem with Ayn Rand is that she tends to oversimplify complex issues. There is a kind of cult following of hers.  She makes a shrine to laissez-faire capitalism, which really only exists in fantasy, and it would be a disaster in real life, imho.  I did read Atlas Shrugged, long ago.  I wasn't that impressed, but I wanted to see what the fuss was about.

One of these days, I'll get a laptop, then I'll see what all the fuss is about there, too.  Ye Olde Coffee Shoppe here has plenty of laptop campers, working busily away.  Right now, I'm enjoying my view of the Olympics while I've still got it, which may not be more than a month or so, and then we find another apt.,

Sorry to hear you're having to console your weary soul with Maxwell House, but there's something to be said for being self-sufficient at times.

FreeManWalking, I've done my time with Applebee's, Ayn Rand and good coffee.   Looks like we have some things in common.
