Blanche, I have heard some respected scientists
say they were religious, none however believe in "intelligent design" as a substitute for evolution. You seem to have indicated the same in your comment.

Whacky, Stubborn is just another way of
saying stupid. George W. Bush is a perfect example.

cynthia.
I just checked your member profile, and in your write-ups too, like in life, you define yourself exceedingly well.

Cynthia, the sad thing, in my opinion, is that Christianity and evolution

are not necessarily mutually exclusive.  To ask a rational, modern, thinking Christian to disbelieve facts such as carbon dating, the fossil records, and all modern scientific evidence of Neanderthals and Homo Sapiens is absurd in the extreme.

I had heard that the Kansas Board of Education or whatever board deems creationism acceptable curriculum had overturned that. Maybe I was overly optimistic.  I'm not sure where the figure of 6,500 years came from, I've been told from adding up the ages of the patriarchs, but to me, science and Christ do not necessarily exclude each other.  It's the inward truth, not the absurd arguiing over facts, that makes it very real to me. Sadly, this is not the case for everyone.  I share your frustration and sadness over this situation.

Are we stupid or just stubborn?
