RckyMtnActivist - that I could buy
There is a world of difference between a belief that promotes personal growth and instills a sense of personal responsibility based on a role model, versus a belief that deflects all personal effort in favour of a cop out.

Hi Gome... in my opinion this is just another example of Christians
taking the bible literally. Many believe that the second coming is the coming of christ consciousness, a higher way of thinking and acting and merely a part of the evolutionary process of the human race. We are evolving but it sure doesn't look that way viewing the world as it is today! Another post that really makes me think!

SuccessWarrior - that's the crux of it isn't it?
This kind of nonsense is simply an excuse to be a loser. Excuse the harsh words but the entire idea rankles me. From the notion of being so select simply due to faith that a supernatural being will come and get you to live with him in bliss while the rest of the planet's populace are left behind to live in misery, to the absurdity of it. The likelyhood of mankind ever sorting out our problems is a low enough percentage as it is without beliefs such as this taking hold.

People who stop living now because of their belief
in imminent destruction remind me of people who use drugs and alcohol as an escape. Life's too hard. I give up.
Cowboy up! If you are being worthless here and now, Jesus isn't going to save you anyway. Get to work making your life and this planet better if you want to be saved.
