Brisbane-
Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forward.
--Soren Kierkegaard

I am jazzed about this quote.  I try not to be an enabler (rescuer) and it was easier when I made money. . .  reality has forced me to face the problem with my would-have-been rescued rather than just bail them out.  Luckily, I've never felt talken advantage of or taken for granted.

PostSmile!   Jo .. I saw your comment on my post and laughed, it was so great to see you there again.

Rescuing has always been a part of my personality and as you stated it's not always the best course to take for ourselves or the person who is in need of help. I try hard to let others fend for themselves but I think that my close friends and family can see right through me and know that I'll be there before they hit bottom. In all fairness to my kids they have grown into responsible men and women.. with 2 exceptions.

I try to "teach" friends to help themselves but the stubborn ones insist on me doing everything for them.
