yes, we all absorb pain around us, some handle it better than others.
when i've reached saturation point, i do one of three things. usually. 1) i cry. i'm not being a crybaby, i'm just releasing the flood gates and allowing the sadness the run, diluted and powerless, back into the arms of mother earth. or onto a shirt sleeve. 2) i perform random acts of kindness. my absolute favorite act is to pick up litter. my second favorite act is to buy scratch and win lottery tickets and give them away to total strangers, often to the shopkeepers from whom i've purchased the tickets. you should see the genuine look of surprise and pleasure on their faces! 3) when it's really, really bad, i go for a massage. i have to warn the masseuse that there will be tears or that a great yelp of despair may suddenly wrench it's way out of my heart but not to worry, it just means they're doing a good job. my favorite masseuse massages the tears into the oils and our session usually ends in giggles.

RkyMtnActivist posted something today about
How
Empaths can protect themselves against the emotions of those around them. Maybe it will help you.

I know I don't have to tell you that empaths do feel
The emotions of those around them. But YOU must excercise control in order to not suffer confusion and distress bec of the suffering of others.
With practice you can learn to sort out which is your own pain and which is that of others. You must get stronger though emotionally. Maybe it's time you DID make the inner child behave herself a bit better.
You can be in control of your emotions. Perhaps part of you realizes it's time to work on that some.

my love, she's not a spoilt child, she's a hurt child. You will heal when
you are damn good and ready and not a minute sooner, as we all will. Yes, you do probably carry some pain for us all. I think I do. I wouldn't give it up. Someone has to cry for all the girls and women of the world who are mistreated as a simple way of life. Otherwise, there will never be awareness and change.
Feel better, my sweet woman, and don't despair. You are on the right path to healing, just by wondering where to begin.

Mysterious one...
The brain is a powerful organ. Wheter the pain of empathy is just the brain reaction, or in fact real empathy, the pain is very real. Can we turn our brains around at will and affect goodness? Perhaps it's worth a try, but it's a big unhappy world so the task is enormous. Just start with a grin.

Lovely Mysteria, yes, of course we can feel the pain of the whole world (IMHO). Wrap yourself in the color of love, wrap your sisters in the color of love. The collective pain can be diminished. (p.s. Thank you for the lovely Harrison lyrics
