Wow, bel,
how funny.  And for the record, sit-ups do suck.  But they're tried and true.  Tell Pam that more sit-ups will make her a better runner, too.  I'm sure her dad may have told her that, but tell her this came from a woman who hates running, but notices the difference when her stomach muscles are stronger.  Good luck to Pam on the challenge.  Good for Carl to give her a run for her money.  Thanks.  :)

HAHA
these days I would be doing well to accomplish just one.  I have let myself get so out of shape for someone who was a cheerleader for 8 yrs.  I am always sitting infront of a computer these days so the only thing that gets any exercise is my fingers,

sit ups

I can remember the first time I met a trainer, that I had hired.  He showed me the prober way to do sit ups and then asked me to do 25.  Now mind you, I was about 48 years old and this was my first work out with a coach.

So I huffed and puffed and did 25.

Then he asked me for 25 more.  Now I turned a bit green and did 25 more.

Then he asked me for 25 more.  My stomach felt like silly putty and I did not think I could do it.  I remember it so well right now that it is like it happened yesterday.  I had to do one and say, I can do one more.  I could not even begin to think about the final goal.  Just keep doing one more.

Well I did 100 sit ups that day, could barely walk out and eventually got up to 500 a day.  Yet, I learned something so important that I use even today.  When I think I can't do it anyway, just one more.

Bel, You just made me remember one thing I am grateful for.  Thank you, God, that I do not have to do 100 sit ups or any push ups at all.   I'm thankful for my two pound hand weights and my two pound ankle weights and the tread mill and that's enough.

Sounds familiar
My husband is waaayyy competitive, but in general real easy going.  Throw sports (any) into the mix and you have yourself a fanatic.  Always wants to win, and my kids are a lot like daddy.  I feel your pain- lol.
