Julia.
I have heard that cats get adjusted to the surroundings more than anything else, so you were right to stay with them as their one constant in their new surroundings. Do you have an aerobed. You could sleep on that for a whole month! I have 3 kitties who have had to accept my daughter's 3 cats as they acclimate to each other. (a lot of paper towels and spray cleaner for the p****** wars. <vbs> They'll be back in their own home in a few months (HOPEfully) and will have to readjust to just their own company. Here they had to make the acquintance of our two dogs as well. It's been good for them, bad for my husband!

Julia, You finally made it. I am relieved. I hope you don't have to sleep down there for more than a month. LOL. I hope they readjust to the move faster than Pitiful did.

A wonderful Mom you are Julia...

With your loving concern, they'll probably shake the effects eventually. Lose their spooked shells. If not, at least they'll be lucky scaredy cats, lol.

I'm glad to hear you're all safe and sound.... they'll adjust.
I remember moving my cat only 5 miles away to a new house... he had been in the other home for 14 years! He freaked out, sniffing all over the place, hiding, and refusing to sleep. He literally cried (I should say howled) all night for a week. By the second night, I was no longer a good mom. LOL

Holy grail--
They are getting better little by little, day by day. I know it will take a long time, but time we have! Incidentally, it was 13 hours the second day and 7 the first for 20 total...a wild ride to say the least!

I'm glad she's better! I hope they will all adjust soon, but I know it will take time. At least Charlie won't have to go through the 13 hour car ride. (He's going to wig out bad enough moving 3/4 of a mile from home.) At least having you near them and the old familiar smells being around will help some with the adjustment period.

Julia, a love like yours for animals is truly a gift! We have recently
had to put to sleep two of our cats, one we had for ten years, the other for 21 years. The other day, my wife found beautiful stray cat and brough him and loved him much like you did yours. The next day she took him to the vet, and he told her the cat had a number of serious infections and illnesses, and would not live very long -- we too had to put him to sleep, but that one night of love and mercy shown by my wife, I and that cat will never forget!
