"These types of organizations", as you put it, are mosques and schools. What is being preached or taught there is not a big secret, but is well known. 'Surveillance' is not the issue, what is the issue is that we tolerate that adults and children are being indoctrinated with an ideology of intolerance and hate!
And the biggest irony is that the forces of liberalism and political correctness are helping to maintain that situation. I find it particularly ludicrous when I hear liberals go on about the 'Christian Right'. You guys are barking up the wrong tree, and while you're doing that, the Islamic Right is sneaking up behind you! And you won't know what hit you! Been to Britain lately?

Part of the proper response to this is to stop this immigration. Once they're here, they have the 1st Amendment. Ariel's comment is right on and that is how we can win, by making them support themselves, which they have a lot of trouble doing without oil. They have to be contained. It is becoming like the cowbird nest parasite problem.

However, if the Bush administration and the law enforcement community is going through emails and telephone records, and if local police are infiltrating anti-war groups, then WHY WOULDN'T THEY have these types of organizations under surveillance?

I remember Hamza, a.k.a Abu Hook, although I wasn't familiar with all the details, such as his 28,000 Sterling chariot. I have lost sight of him - he is not still living in Britain, is he?
Of course, we have plenty of his type in this country, even if they're not quite as brazen as that fine gentleman.
But the mind boggles at the self-destructive stupidity of those who permit this sort of situation...

There's been a war going on since well before 9/11 ; and we're losing it. Rapidly.
What you didn't mention was that such mad, murderous scum as Abu Hmaza live on State benefits, while preaching the violent destruction of the very society that feeds them.
This guy -- an illegal immigrant --- his wife and 8 kids was supported by the state for 20 years. He even had a top of the range car, ( about £28,000 ) with leather seats and trim sat nav, and all the goodies, to enable him to seek work. he had no intention of doing so ; and they had no intention of making him.
WE have a death wish that going to be fulfilled real soon.
