Whacky, I think Avant-Garde and Shamsuddin Jim may be onto something
This guy's stories sound too farfetched to be true, but they may be true to him, maybe he has had visions of bears, like Native Americans on a vision quest. Some people might think it's delusional, but he might have seen it, even if it's not "real".

I do not believe it.
It is great having a friend who is a good story teller. I had such friend at university. He was once telling a tall tale and was confronted about the truth regarding the tale. His response "It's not true, but sounds good" and carried on with the tale. great.
