Isn't that ironic: I'm afraid of motorcycles!

You're right. I do think of the boys now, whenever I do something. Thanks for reading.

All fun things have an element of danger to them. During the winter, people get on their sleds and are pulled behind ATV's.

It is a murky, mysterious place.

I wouldn't say it was infested, but there were more than one in there. I wasn't thinking. If I thought too much about it, I wouldn't have done it. You just kind of say to yourself, 'I'm okay,' and jump in.

Now that I think back on it, it probably was a little risky doing that. But, we did have a lot of fun.

I was horrified that two men could do such things to women. I've said before that the criminals should receive what they dish out as their punishment. Perhaps, then people would think twice.

I will read your stories for the thrill. I will not, never, not in my lifetime go where it is known that aligators and snakes just frolic in the same pool as I. No, no and no. You are to brave. Remember you have three little boys now don't take such risks. LOL

I love water skiing
but am still on an amature level. When I was younger, living at the coast, we used to tie a ski rope behind a vehicle and drive along the road alongside an estuary with a surfboard attached to the ski rope. It was very daring but great fun. I am off for a short holiday tomorrow to a great lake. The lake is teaming with nile crocodiles and they are not docile. Will not be skiing! Always enjoy your posts.

Perhaps the alligators were ONCE docile but not anymore.
They've been attacking people in Florida.

Avant-Garde, isn't Natchitoches the town where Mark Twain was from?
Or at least where he started out working on a steamboat when he became Mark Twain?  I can picture the gothic eeriness of it, Spanish moss dripping off the trees, and what were you thinking water skiing in an alligator-infested river?

Hi Avant...I still get the chills when I think about it today!

Yup that's right they did a TV movie on them.  In the movie they show when they drop a body off in Glendale and that was my friend's house. Well not her actualy house but you know....

Yes, I remember them. I read about them. Kenneth Bianci and Mario Cumo(?). That's too creepy. I bet you guys were terrified to go out of your homes. I'd have gotten a pistol and carried it everywhere. I can only imagine what you thought when you discovered how close you came to seeing them at their ghoulish work.

Thinking back on it, I'm not sure if the lure of skiing on such a great river outweighed everything. I'd had keeled over with a heart attack, were that monstrous thing have gotten near me.

OMG! That would have freaked me out...what a great story. I have had a

similar but different close encounter.  I was going to school in California during the time of the Hillside Stranglers. I don't know if you are familiar with them but they were serial killers that were killing women only in the Los Angeles area in the late 70's. They thought they might be impersonating cops so all women were told not to stop if any officer pulled them over and the police were told not to stop any women unless it was absolutely necessary. The entire city and suburbs were living in fear. I lived in the foothills of the Angeles National Forest but went to school and worked in the LA area.

One Friday evening a group of us girls went to one of our friend's house that lived in Glendale.  The houses in Glendale where she lived were on a hillside and set way back from the street. I was the last one to leave that night and I left at 1 am.  The drive from her house to mine was about 30 minutes. I walked into my house finding the phone ringing.  It was my girlfriend.  Within fifteen minutes of my leaving the cops knocked on her door to ask her if she heard anything?  It seem that within ten minutes after my leaving the Hillside Stranglers dumped their most recent victim on the front lawn of my girlfriend's house. She was calling me to make sure that I made it home alright! If I had left a few minutes later I may have caught them in the act and possibly would have been their next victim. I'll can't forget that feeling til this day!

avant garde,

I don't think I'll have the courage to dip one little toe in that river.  Color me chicken but I'm too scared.
