Your standing in support of Carl makes us love you all the more. Your choice that you married a soldier, but I don't see it as a bad choice either. As you have said somewhere that there are instances when the lion mother instinct in you comes to the fore

He is looking at changing units. The unit he is looking at, has not been to Iraq. The way the rotations work this means he would increase his chances of going again, probably in the next year. BUT, the way things are going right now, with various troops changes, etc... it's really not overly clear. With this change I just kind of got a kick in the tail that reminded me, it could happen at anytime.

I wouldn't call it tough. If it come to be, I will go to pieces. But I also made choices and for that I can't complain.

After 180 days from his seperation from active duty it became a possibility. How likely is it? I don't really know due to the climate of things right now. But is it something that is out there right now? Not really.

He actually came home with 3 coins an AARCOM and some other award that I would have to look up. The coins came from the Colonel, The CSM and one a LTC. I am looking to get a case to keep them in.

Hi,
I dated an army guy and I realise why you wrote the previous post. What most people don't realise is that relatoionships with people in the armed forces can be stressful in a different way. You shouldn't apologise, you just needed to vent. It's understandable that you were upset - your husband may have to go back to Iraq.

Carl is a great man and Soldier. It seems like he has the respect of a lot of people including me and most of all you.
P.S......I know about how important the coin thing is. Did he ever get anytype of appreciation?.... coin, medal, plaque or anything for his efforts?

Far too many people today have virtually no awareness of their own history, and its lessons, Bel.
Despite these events occurring in the lifetimes of many fathers and grandfathers of bloggers in here, there seems to be a blisfful unawareness of exactly what life was like for wives and families in WW11. Or is it a " Don't tell us about that boring old stuff any more!"
Many British and Empire trooops were captured by the Germans in 1940, and spent the entire war behind bars, and far worse was the fate of those Allied troops who fell into the hands of the Japanese in 1941. A far higher proportion of these men than those in Europe never returned.
We shame ourselves, and we grossly dishonour these men by not keeping the sacrifices in our minds.
We don't have to be maudlin about this ; nor wallow in the past ; just be aware.
And treat with the contempt that they deserve those who mock the sense of honour, and the patriotism of people like like you and your Carl.
Who else but America will do what's necessary? The UN? The EU? Gimme a break!

Bel, Having to accept a harsh truth and liking it are two different things,
At least, as you said, Carl's chances of going back are no better or worse with a new unit than with this one. I know the Army has an attitude about National Guard being lesser soldiers, but that is just stupid arrogance. They're all running the same risks.
I don't blame you for getting upset. I am just happy that MG already has a bad knee or I'd be tempted to do the same if they wanted him back.
