TXSwimmer, while we're at it, let's contract Halliburton to build a wall
around Fortress America, since they have done such an outstanding job contracting to rebuild Iraq and New Orleans.

That's a siren song, if ever I heard one! If only! Many of your points are exactly what the US needs to ( some in a modified form of course ) but the rest? Sadly, it won't work, for no country can be an island these days ; unless one wants to starve in North Korea or Cuba.
I've lost count of the number of times that the world's gonna end real soon, and when I was a kid back in the 1930s we used to torment the sandwich board man, with its message " REPENT! THE END IS NIGH!" Don't seem to be any nigher now than it was then
