I would think it's the ice in them that kept them edible for so long.

I'm long over due for cleaning out my freezer.  Wonder what gems I will find . . . .

I think it's a sodium phosphate or sd derivative.
Isn't that what baking soda is?  Anyway, that's what I think the preservative is.  That would explain the freshness because I've read on baking soda boxes that if you put them in your freezer it removes odor.  I've heard twinkies last for years too. Does this mean if we eat foods with preservatives we will stay fresher longer too?  Wouldn't that be nice!  Take care

those sound so cool and yummy!!!  I think when something freezes it can keep a very long time- especially non-meat items like those...

I have no idea what keeps stuff fresh.  It's a little scary, isn't it?  The freezer is a miracle worker.

3 year old fruit bars stay fresh...I don't know if I will discover how long my popsicles will stay fresh, my 3 year old daughter snags them constantly!
