By the time Katrina hit last year we had already had a bunch of storms. Well, they were up to the letter K by then. So we'd have a ways to go in the next couple of weeks to get to the K's from C. Also, the water temps are cooler this year than last year. That has been a big factor also. There are actually bouys in the water that measure these things if anyone wants to see where this data comes from. We still have time for some bad storms, but I think it will not be as bad as last year.

I think it is a bit premature
for experts to downgrade this hurricane season. The 2004 hurricanes didn't start in full force until August and that was one exhausting season.
