Ariel, the future sounds a lot like the present

I believe that as the number of enlightened people grows,
the number of people holding on to the past will shrink.  That has always been the case.  History repeats.  Churches will call the new people heretics to slow the abandonment but eventually it will just come out, just as the fact that the earth goes around the sun became the new truth.  The church tried to stop the belief from being accepted by the masses but it still happened.  It may take a couple of generations but it will happen.  This is their "end of days", a prophecy fulfilled.  Not the end of the world but the end of the reign by the Christian religion.

Success

Easy peasy, Japaneesy! They're here already.

A sort of Gaia fixation, in which the pure will not:--

Smoke, nor pollute Gaia in any way ; thou shalt not hunt any animal, nor shall ye fish in any waters ; never shall the flesh of an creature pass your lips, nor shall ye wear any apparel made from the fur, hide or skin of an animal.

Thou shalt not pass any derogatory remark about another's race/religion.politics/sex/ appearance/possessions/children, nor any other matter ( for a complete list of prohibited words and phrases, consult the permission books in your local police station )

Thous shalt not have unapproved graven images before your masters, for only approved images of your rulers may be displayed in private or public.Nnor shalt thou indulge in any activity deemed inappropriate by them ( This may be taken to mean anything )

Welcome to the future.

people will hold on to
what they've been holding on to for thousands of years.

enlightened people will find the religion of the here and now and develop a way of life superior to any preceding.
