California's first millionaires were oil men. Their companies still pay no

state drilling fees. There is a measure afloat  in the next ballot to institute such fees, the windfall from which is to be partially invested into non-petromeum energy study.

Azur, thanks for making yourself visible!
Most people have a terrible time making the connection between their real life circumstances and the policies supported by the people they vote into office. There is a cause and effect ratio, but people can not connect the dots.

I read this yesterday but made an invisible visit
but that's like many visitors  to my blogs. I agree that people don't seem to realize the impact that the tax evasion and offshore funds has on their services. Of course I do understand that no one wants to pay any more tax than they must

But Passionflower, in the end, "the government" is us,
so we are just cheating ourselves. We'll either pay more in taxes, or have fewer services. There's no free ride.
