TVBlogger - I find it remarkable that some people can speak of the rapture
as if they are included in the select few.
Like who are they trying to kid aside from themselves? The idea of the rapture is that only those who are pure of heart and mind will be selected. Not the lying, cheating, thieving bastards we see every day that call themselves Christians. If some of these knuckleheads get chosen for the rapture, it is either a farce or it is fixed. (I'm speaking as if the rapture is not a simpleton's fairy tale)....

Xeno-x - I've never thought that peace in the middle east is possible
It is inevitable that the complete destruction of a good portion of the region is the only possible outcome. Still, it is likely that the planet will survive this inevitability.

I'm with Stephen Hawking
When he, the brightest mind on this planet, says it's time to go, perhaps we need to go. Maybe they got the whole rapture thing wrong... maybe it's all the unbelievers being lifted up to spaceships to leave the fanatics 1000 years of fighting over their god and their nuclear charred earth.

i agree that fanaticism reigns supreme
and I do have a problem with using violence as a means to solve problems.
the big problem is that we have armies of fanatics lining up on all sides, ready to do battle, and believing that god is on their side and not the other.
Israel is attempting to rebuild the "homeland" they once had before the Romans scattered them in 70 and about 150 C.E.
Arabs are viciously fighting in opposition to Israeli displacement of people and continued expansion (settlements halted a little now, but the wall encroached upon Palestinian territory) , militarily seeking a solution, vowing to drive Israel into the sea, etc.
Christians are backing the Jews, expecting the temple and the Beast and the Second Coming, making the Arabs out to be tools of Satan.
Now, with this mix, do you really see any hope for a peaceful settlement -- or even any settlement in our lifetimes?

I had previously stayed away from your blog for fear of being exposed to religiosity (reverse psychology I expect) but now I realize I have been missing out on someone that revels in heathenism as much as I do. Fuck, and your right it is insane to have imaginary friends when your an adult.

Sunnybeach7- I feel that there will be a positive outcome in the middle
east.
The region will be drawn to the brink of insanity and some of our religous wackos will actually be faced with widescale destruction. It is still comic book to them, just sanitized news program violence at this point. When it becomes real to them, all but the most deluded will cower like blubbering babies. It is nothing more than a morbid fascination propelled by peer re-affirmation at this point. In all groups of highly agendized religious folks, there are many that are just going along for the ride. It is as a herd of crazed cattle.

SuccessWarrior - That is it completely.
They are basing their entire futures as beings on the scribblings of ancient man. Some of these knuckleheads believe that they can be raptured at any time. It gets real good from here on in......they believe that they will be raptured, taken up to heaven while 2 billion people destroy themselves here on earth (not them of course).. then Jesus will bring them back down after this planet becomes a charred cinder, make everything green again and then live in an edenlike bliss as a species for 1,000 years. I wish that I was writing such a thing with the humor that it deserves but there is no humor in people actually believing this stuff. It can only be described as scary.

I agree, they're crazy as sh%&! They're in such a hurry to get to God, sometimes I wonder if they shouldn't be helped along on their way.

It is so strange to me that people hope that our world will be destroyed
just so they can say "I told you so" in the afterworld.
