Welcome, Mademoiselle!
There is an enormous difference. Neither I nor any other responsible conservative advocates the killing of those who disagree with us. Yet the extreme fringe liberals - for all their talk about openmindedness, peace, love and so forth - practically make it a reflexive action to do so. From the President, Limbaugh and Hannity right down to little ole me, conservatives are regularly targeted with calls for our death.

Yes, Jane, if you are a believer and a celebrity . . .
. . .you
will be held to a higher standard. And rightly so because of your ability to influence people for or against your faith. The double standard is an issue because of the radically different treatment he gets. If this kind of behavior and talk is wrong for one, it's wrong for all. But he is accountable because of his prominence.

Yup writer -- double standard.
I am very sorry to see the trouble Mel has gotten himself into. Because he is a devout Catholic, and very verbal about his faith, it would seem he is held to a higher standard and when he blows it, he falls lower than the rest. The others, such as Baldwin, perty much stick to the swamps, so one would expect such hate-filled comments from them.

What Gibson said was no big deal whatsoever ...
However, assuming you complain about the (supposed) "hate speech" directed at the President by various liberals ... aren't you then, also, guilty of a double standard?
Think about it.
"If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy,
throw one of those small pumpkins.
Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is,
and while they are thinking,
you can throw a real grenade at them."
