I've seen things that would shock the most hardened people. I cannot say that I'm completely recovered, but more relieved not to be smack in the middle of it anymore.

Avant-Garde, awareness of violence strips away the defense that all of us
carry around to pretend that such things can't happen or won't happen randomly with anyonne. I can understand why you'd arm yourself and have dogs, for your own protection and your family's. I am glad that I can still walk outside in daylight and not feel afraid every minuts, but it's in the back of my mind to be aware. that's life in the modern world, I suppose, but at some point, I have to trust in God to get me through the day.
These memories, of these two girls shot, wounded and killed randomly and without provocation must give you the darkest view of humanity. I'm glad you're writing them out, though.

And it gets worse. I can not imagine how anyone in the whole world would simply shoot someone they did not know, had no problem with just blow them away because it was the thing to do today. I will keep you in my prayers if you don't object. :)

I can't imagine what type of life that would be like. Purely barbaric, I'm sure.

I've toned it down a lot since moving up this way. I don't see much gang violence any more, thank God. It was really messing with my head.

The crips or the bloods. They were rival gangs in Shreveport.

I saw several of these types of murders. They are tragic and make you paranoid as hell. I was carrying a pistol around all the time, and looking at everyone.

OMG Avant....I don't know how you do it! One of our friends is a
paramedic in Denver and it's the same thing here.....gang bangers shooting innocent people just for kicks!

That's just it. You can't understand it. It just happens. Everyone is defensive and looking for trouble.

It was mostly the poor, black neighborhoods that saw the most violence. And, yes the faces of the elderly were much aggrieved.

Well, I must say that they don't really. They affect everyone differently. I just became incredibly paranoid. There is no thinking that, 'Okay, if I do this I won't get shot.' But, they are random and without any provocation! That works on your mind.

It's so sad that random, senseless violence has to happen. I'll just never understand it...perhaps it is never understandable, and that's what makes it so hard to bear.

All I can say is God bless you and all folks that can do that work. I'd be a mess, everybody would be better off than me. That was a terrible scene, don't know how you can ever sleep after that my friend.

Oh my word
this is tragic. I would much rather live with my problems than with gang violence. My heart goes out to those tragically murdered and to the families with children involved in gangs. It must be a parents nightmare!
