Like a week long cruise of relaxation as a reward for working out so hard. Now that's a reward!

yup...rewards are good
a massage for a working out for a whole month? I'd be thinking more like an all inclusive trip to Mexico if I could work out everyday for a whole month!!!! So, a massage would be a nice small reward. The gym I belong to (and rarely frequent) gives a prize for every 10 work-outs. It did help me to show up for the first 20 times....still waiting for motivation to attend for the 21st time!

I have considered using a system likes this
I get Runner's World and so I've seen a lot of programs. Right now, I've just been concerned with actually getting out and running. My rest days just seem to happen for the most part so I haven't built them in.
It's all a work in progress and I imagine that I will be refining it as I go.

A massage sounds nice...
I'd make it every so many miles...that way as your mileage increases, so does the frequency of the reward.
Also, when I ran cross-country they made a big deal about alternating days and taking a day off every week. You can build total miles faster that way...it gives your body a chance to recover and build muscle when you rest. Which includes the low mile days...so to get 14 miles a week you might see a pattern like:
Sun: Rest, Mon: 3 miles, Tue: 1 mile, Wed: 4 miles, Thur: 2 miles, Fri: 1 mile, Sat: 5 miles
Okay, so it doesn't add up to 14...but that's how we did it, and also how I've seen race training in the magazines. It's hard to show the breakdown with lower miles. Usually the week includes 3 low mile days of a mile or two, and two moderate days that may include hills or interval training, and one long day followed by a day off.
