I am so sorry for what your child has been put through. These monsters should not be allowed to walk the face of the earth.

Social services is useless around here. They will be involved but I am basically going over their head to someone who can do something!

I sure don't blame you for doing that, bel. Hide her if you have to. No child needs to be treated that way. I know that makes you angry. I know it would me.
Poor baby! Good luck.

This is scary.
What a sick man. Keep you precious daughter safe at all costs. My sister was abused by my grandfather and it has scarred her for life. I hate these types of people and they should rot in hell!!

I'd like to believe that might happen but you know when someone who cons their way into a 30 day sentence for six felony convictions including larceny and embezzlement, I don't have much faith he will do any time for this!

Bel, I believe "overly sensitive" is a phrase that bullies frequently use
to disempower and silence anyone who questions their tactics. Mind games are part of their stock iin trade, and it's part of the lasting damage, as I'm sure you know. It's a good thing Pam has you as an advocate, or her self-esteem would be damaged.

I hate the phrase overly sensitive in these matters. I do believe it makes us hyper sensitive because we know EXACTLY what it is like and the kind of damage it inflicts.
Pam is a self confident and beautiful young lady and I will be damned if that scum is going to take that away from her.

Good for you, Bel. I hear too much about being overly sensitive
to our pasts, but if it does some good, like training us to look for warning signals that others might miss, then maybe that's part of God's plan. It makes you a good advocate. It might do so for me as well.

I understand this all hits way to close to home for me! I am an over protective parent (everyone says so LOL) and much of that comes from my own history and a determination to make sure Pam does not grow up with the same garbage.
If the court doesn't take care of this, I will see that the news media does!

family.

Bel, what a relief. I was ready to hop a flight to Michigan.
and find some Russian sailors to work this jerk over. (Okay, I'm only slightly kidding here, but only about the Russian sailors. They work cheap.
However, all kidding aside, I was worried that Pam was still in their house. I hope that all things considered the courts believe you and Pam and do whatever is necessary to get both of them out of there. I can believe that this piece of human excrement, this excuse for a man, would only prey on someone physically weaker than himself. However, her mother has some responsibility for this as well, to protect her children. Grr. I have so many strong feelings about this. I am lucky, very lucky that my mother married my own jerk stepfather when I was an adult. However, it was small consolation to witness the damage he did and be unable to stop it or help.

They are 300 miles away so that limits the oppurtunity. We meet in a mutual place and he does not come anywhere NEAR Carl. Funny thing about bullies, they tend to fear real men!

Pam is here and her mother doesn't have visitation again with her until Christmas, which gives us the time to get paperwork in motion.
From what I got by talking to both kids is that this man only seems to hit and assault women. Then again James is one hell of a lot bigger than the step-father. I'll do what I have to do if her mother isn't willing to do it. One way or another the kids will be protected from this asshole!

Both of you must be mad as all hell, Bel, try not to do anything that will
give this piece of human garbage the upper hand. I hope and pray you can Pam (and James) away from this monster, and if his mother doesn't have the stones (pardon the phrase) to protect her own child, that the courts will do what is right and necessary.
But as mad as you or Carl get, and as justified as that is, bullies work best at provoking strong reactions from their opponenents. Give him an inch, and he will take a mile and use it against you, in court, and make you both look like the aggressors. It's in the bully handbook, there must be one, because it is almost a universal strategy. God and strength be with you. I hope justice prevails.

oh, bel,
I'm sorry to hear about that. Another cowardly bully among you, it sounds like. I pray that the law works in favor of protecting Pam, and that Carl won't be tempted to take the law into his own hands. You're in my thoughts and prayers on this. Bless you all.

Bel, I hope Carl gets his Amicus Curiae motion approved
Just out of curioisity, why does he need to go that route, if he's Pam's dad? I would think that any signs of abuse would automatically revert custody back to him.
