Private embryonic stem cell research was legal yesterday, is legal today and is legal next week.

President Bush is the first President to ever provide funds for embryonic stem cell research. The Administration has made available more than $90 million for research on existing embryonic stem cell lines. This small amount of funding is dwarfed by the research budgets of the pharmaceutical companies.

If you want to get worked up about something, I would be worked up about the Democrats who halted an effort to provide funding for “adult” stem cell research that has actually resulted in therapies while embryonic research has yielded nothing. I am not worked up about this either but it makes more sense to be worked up here.If embryonic stem cell research is so promising, I would encourage those that are addicted to the government teet to instead prepare a proposal to Bill Gates and Warren Buffet. The amount of federal money we are talking about here is a mere drop in the bucket, go instead to the mother load. Or prepare a Public Offering to raise money because if the “promises” hold up, the researchers will have more wealth than Larry Elison.

uhhhh, hmmmm, excuse me, zoke, but millions are being spent

on embryonic stem cell research, if not billions.  It's private venture cap money vs govt money.  And for your info, embryonic stem cells have not proven to be anything useful so far.  It's ADULT stem cells that actually work -- and have been proven to work in 72 different ways, including helping paralyzed people walk and helping people with parkinson's disease.  Why aren't you hearing about all these successes? Well, for one thing, the media doesn't seem to want you to know that adult stem cells work and for another, the FDA has not approved all the uses for adult stem cells.  Many people are going abroad to have treatments.

Please, do a little research first, before bashing Bush alright? There's a method to his madness: use of the very effective ADULT stem cells do not contribute to the moral/ethical dilemma that embryonic cells do.
