Justi - okay, I'll put a check mark beside your name in the believer column
Just kidding...... You make a valid point in your comment and here is a slightly different take on the same theme. Believer or non believer makes no real difference to me as I cannot accept that belief and worship are very important criteria come judgement day. (I use the term "judgement day" for lack of a better one) There simply has to be other judgement criteria that is more universal to all of mankind, it is either that or we are all euchered, save a handful of people. Alltruism has to be near the top of the list, with honesty and integrity. To pretend to believe something that one cannot, to deceive themselves, their friends and associates, as well as ultimately attempting to deceive an all knowing and omnipotent being (if he does exist), has to be complete and utter folly.

Schatz -- it can be a comedy post
Just as long as more people are laughing with me than at me.

I think a great part of what has passed for true Christianity has been 'I'll do it my way and we will call it Christianity'. You suggested the Big Guy would know or rather asked. Yes. In my case I know He exists, He knows, and there will be a lot of people surprised. It will not be the non believers who will be totally astonished, it will be those who said "Looky, looky here comes the Christian, me, see!" It won't fly. They will be judged and found as wanting for what they have said about non believers as the non believers might say about believers. If it is false it is bogus. Simple. Keep writing like this. This is good stuff.

Is this a comedy post?
It always makes me laugh. And it's accurate, as well. I think a lot of people go through the motions in life with little real passion. For what ever it may be; religion, sex, their job, blah blah blah. Especially with something like religion because you need to be 'tapped in' to a higher power. If you want to, but don't feel the true connection, fake it. :)

pkcricket - your sort of drifting off of the point but not entirely
I agree that there are people who are not sincere giving Christianity a bad name, this is true of any group but I was more speaking of those who "pass" as Christians and are not necessarily a negative element. You've made some good points however.

Justi - I have to agree that things have changed in recent years
Maybe that is ultimately a good thing. Outside of placating or attempting to please others, I could never understand why people would do this. Like, the big guy would know that they are faking it ...wouldn't he?

This is an excellent post. Truly a good one. It needs to be said. It is the truth. To me that is much worse than saying I am not a believer. If you are not you made a choice and honestly stood by it. If you are trying to fool someone you are the greatest fool of all. It is not a social climbing block anymore in my experience it is more of a stumbling block. Many do not like us. So be it on both sides, one needs to do what one is honestly convicted of doing. I would be more afraid to pretend by far than I would be afraid of terrorism.

I definitely agree that many people who call themselves Christians are faking it. These are the ones that give true believers a bad rap. They go through the motions, but their lives don't really back it up. When the hypcrisy is seen, then fingers are pointed at all believers with voices saying, "See! Told you it wasn't true!" The thing is...test the people. if their walks really don't match up with they preach or what they claim to believe, then you should discredit them as a valid representation of Christianity. Moon_Spirit - thank you - the answer to your query is easy
No the world would not be a better place if they all spoke in tongues, they mutter enough gibberish already. Now if they all became mute.....then we would have something.

Gomedome, There is a lot of merit to all of these points (very close to 100% accuracy IMHO but, MHO is totally unimportant and amounts to nothing.) A metaphysical query for you to ponder: If all of the religious folks, spoke in tongues all of the time, would the world be a better place?
Think about it.
