Nautikos, I will read your work, and though I don't have the information
on hand right now, I will find the information on the last days of Darwins life and share it with you.   I am sorry that you don't believe that God can be known, for I have been a Christian for 48 years, and I can assure you that the God of this universe can be known and known well.

MC

I am not familiar with Darwin's state of mind at the end of his life, and it may well be that he despaired over having lost his faith sometime in the course of his studies. But I can assure you, that a loss of belief in God does not necessarily lead to despair! My own position is that of an agnostic: since God is not knowable, I do not know whether there is a God or not.

If you want to understand my position, you should read my posts on Belief and Knowledge, June 18 and June 21.

Nautikos, that is what I mean. Evolution keeps the Creator out of the
picture;   however, as I mentioned before Darwin regretted he ever brought it forth -- read his biographies and other research about his own loss of meaning and purpose to life because he could find no evidence of a creator!

MC,
the process of evolution doesn't suggest the world was 'created' by a 'creator'. There is simply isn't the slightest bit of evidence for a 'creator'. Currently we can establish the beginning of the observable (i.e. 'our') universe at approx. 14 billion years ago, in the so-called Big Bang Which wasn't a 'bang', because there was no sound. We do not know hat gave rise to the BB, but there are theories. If it 'God' occasioned the BB, fine. Evolution began from there.

Nantikos, that the world was created as the theory of evolution suggest!

okay, if it was a Christian College, I understand what the problem is here. Science based on faith is not science. Faith is faith and science is science, and never the twain shall meet, to paraphrase Kipling.

MC,
what's not probable?

Nautikos, The College was a Christian College and was simply
defending the Christian faith again such writings as Jean Sarte's, Charles Darwin, Betrand Russell, Carl Jung etc.,

MoutainClimber,
of course, it is never 'the College itself' but those teaching there. But the College is responsible for the people they hire, and it is the College that takes your money. And whether it's the 60's, 70's or any other time, people who teach such nonsense have no business teaching! I have taught (and will again be teaching) at the university level myself, crap like that just infuriates me!

Nautikos, it is certainly possible, but not very probable -- Even Darwin
deny his own theory and at his death regretted ever sharing it with himself and the world!

Oh and another thing,
again, with all due respect, if you believe in 'creation' (in the Biblical sense,) you should also get your tuition back. I think it is perfectly possible to believe in God and understand the world wasn't created 6000 years ago...

Nautikos, it was not the College itself, but the study of those who in each
these subjects were proclaiming such in the mid-sixties and early seventies.

MountainClimber,
with all due respect, but I can't imagine what college you went to where they taught you that "Humankind will evolve into a more perfect, loving and kind and caring being."  And if they really did, you should ask them to return your tuition fees...

In my opinion, mankind has always been this evil...
According to historical records including the Bible.

RckyMtn, You have a good point, though I wrote this with tongue in
cheek because I don't believe we came as a resutl of evolution, but were divinely created, and can not evolve to become better but must be saved from our self and our sins by an act of a higher power!

I disagree MC......our evolution is moving as it should....
All the evil in the world is being exposed because we are evolving. It is like the battle of good and evil. But that's just my opinion!
