NY Times
The Times is being played again.  What we have here is a race to destroy Israel between the Arab Sunnis and the Iranian Shias.  Whoever wins will get real-world benefits like no other culture in history.  Meanwhile, they still havn't won.  During the last year of WW2 the bombing by the U.S. and its allies killed over one million civilians and it was justified and so is Isreal.  No Mid-East population has suffered like the Jappanese and the Germans did.

Countries like Pakistan and Israel that rely on violence and terror, & we
who like to see bllod and gut sflying all over the trains, planes and automobiles (and gas stations in Lebanon) have this problem: we have been emasculated in some way, and need to show our manhood, our STRENGTH, by hitting out, lashing any which way, just to prove something. IF anyone wants to solve the problem of terrorism, there is a way ...we are caught in our rhetoric to allow peaceful ways. Let it rain bombs then! At least India has BALLS enough not to turn to violence, even when they know who caused the trains to blow up in Mumbai last week. shalom

DEmocracy and variety of opinions are good. I am glad that IRAN is not trusted; I do not know enough about them to trust them with my support either.

THANX. It may surprise U, but I am no LEFT. Look at my blog since 2003
I wanted Prez Bush to beat John Kerry and the Democrats. But this does not mean I agree with his insatiable appetite to kill Muslims, or to allow others to do so. THOU SHALT NOT KILL is not a commandment that has the fine print, "EXCEPT THEY BE ARAB women, men and children". I spend half my time doing workshops on Martin Luther King's philosophy and Gandhi's "Satyagraha" or soul-power..

I think a lot of the rhetoric we hear from the Arab nations...
is to keep their more radical elements calm.  I think that privately they are friendlier to the U.S. than the public knows and our leaders accept the public rants because it helps keep their governments stable.  To have them come out and criticize Hezbollah may have been a very brave act but a necessary one if they aren't going to have the terrorists take them all over as well.

The countries named are Western allies - rather the leadership is...

In the midst of all the horror - the real reason the Israeli soldiers were taken as prisoners of war has been forgotten -  the exchange of prisoners - 10,000 political prisoners in Israel jails that are tortured, starved and beaten on a daily basis.  400 of these prisoners are children - Israel abducts children from their homes in the dead of night - in the streets - anywhere - everywhere - the are sexually abused and tiortured as Israel tries to break them and force them into becoming collaborators.

It just reminds me of what I've seen and been apart of in Iraq opposed to what the US media reports......I'm seeing the same thing now with Lebannon

Times
I don't think the Times is accurately reporting the views or comments of  "All Arab" Leaders. They are generalizing and putting a spin on what is opposite to what I'm seeing and hearing. Yes, maybe a few political moves and statements were made by some Arab leaders.....but not "All".............it really ticks me off how they spin things.

I think that was an accident.  I am sure they will be back to their usually scheduled stupidity soon.

I see what you're saying....

The leaders are talking for the benefit of the West.....and the Times is their barker...so to speak?

But I do have to wonder if these Arab leaders aren't worried anout Iran....a non-Arab country.

Disagree
Corbin, I have always agreed with you up to this point. I have to disagree with you on this one. I'm in the Middle East and am reading the local news papers and watching live footage and Middle Eastern Broadcasts. It is just like the NY Times to put a slant on things.....why would they "magically" be on target for once?......no.....they are spinning what the popular opinion is. www.gulfnews.com is one of the best papers that I have ever read......I feel more educated after reading it, I get an in depth view of what is going on with the rest of the world instead of the "USA Today" which basically says nothing. Anyway........I don't think that by immediately attacking an International Airport was a justified action by Israel. Good grief....even us so called "devil Americans" would never do anything that controversial. On top of my persoanl opinion, I'm reading and seeing a totally different response from the Arab community unlike what is being reported in the NY Times.
