Incidentally...
A few comments below I referred to absolute and relative within the context of the universe. I just posted another article that explores this concept a bit: The Absolute Nature of a Relative Universe. Those of you who are so inclined might want to check it out.

But can't we just agree that he's a good writer and you're a good christian
and that you disagree on religion? No one is challenging either of you, only your ideas. These are personal things we are allowed to differ on. What happens when the whole world becomes so embroiled in this argument?? Oh yeah, it's all over the news right now. I see. Maybe we could take a page from your book and say, I dunno, turn the other cheek on our differences and embrace eachother in brotherly love?? Augh, this is my whole damn beef where christianity is concerned....ACCEPT MY BELIEFS! ACCEPT MY BELIEFS!! WAVE THE JESUS FLAG WITH ME!!! AS LONG AS YOU AGREE WITH ME THAT JESUS HAD THE DOWN LOW ALL ALONG, WHO CARES WHAT HIS
MESSAGE WAS!!!!!!!!!

Gome – You don't take second shair to anyone
In the writing category. You're easily one of the best writers on Blogit! Sincerely...I mean this! (Absolutely...not relatively, that is.)

arGee - that is a brilliant article that you left a link for
I had charged into reading it when I recognized something in the article's general style and lucidity, asking myself: who wrote this? ....I scrolled back up to the top to find out who the author was. Of course. As usual, you articulate my line of thinking much better than I could ever hope to.

Yah...but Gome
Aren't you presuming that there are some absolutes in our Universe? Haven't you come to realize that everything is relative – at least nowadays. Isn't every opinion as good as every other opinion? And doesn't this imply that every scientific theory is as good as every other theory? (Even this begs the actual definition of "theory").
But, then, sadly, you seem to be one of those individuals who simply can't get with the modern trends – you still insist on using logic, and you actually seem to believe that some things simply can't be relative.
I'll work on you...

arGee - it is the understanding of the scientific process that has suffered
the most with the decline in educational standards.
There are young people graduating from college that think that a scientific principle can be voted on to prove its validity.

arGee - I'm still working on the part about the chosen people not
recognizing Jesus Christ as the messiah, nor as the son of God.
I'm also cognizant of all of the religious doctrines and philosophies involved in this conflict. The fundamentalist Christians of the western world seem to think that the participants in this conflict are simply fulfilling biblical prophecy, without giving due consideration to the respective religious doctrines that are motivating the combatants. Then there is the lameness of the prophecy itself. A region that has forever been in turmoil has someone predict that a big war will break out. Gee, how prophetic.....I have a prophecy of my own that will come to fruition as surely as conflict in the middle east: it's going to snow in Canada this winter.

Gome, we have young people graduating from college..
Who can barely read English, and haven't a clue about the reasoning process – possibly because neither do their professors.
BTW – it looks line you're on top, at least for the moment.

Schatz - thank you and you're right on the money
The loud and repetitive part is a foible of human nature. The more times something is repeated, the more "true" it becomes, to the point of gaining consensus being the only qualifier for the so called truth. Nothing has impaired human intellect over history to the degree that religious constructs have. So much so that we have now, in the year 2006, young people graduating from college believing that Satan is a real corporeal entity and that the rapture is only a matter of time.

Gome – I'm surprised at you...
You mean you really don't believe that the current Middle East situation is ordained by God? Have you, somehow, missed all the signs? They're all around you. Just open your eyes...and believe!

For the record, I don't think you're confused.
It seems to me that your writing is articulate and concise. You just don't eat the soup that the fundies want to feed us. Good for you. There's a difference between uneducated and unbelieving. You don't have to believe everything people say, no matter how high and mighty they sound as they say it, or how loud and repetitive they are. LOL

MountainClimber56 - it is not polite to suggest that others are confused
I know that you have had a bible lobotomy and actually believe what you say but the situation in the middle east is entirely man made. Simply because it loosely and very tenuously falls into a set of parameters that bible lobotomists such as your self so much want it to fit into, doesn't change this fact.

to be revealed to you -- Keep your eyes on God's people, and God's Holy Land in these days, and much of your confusion will be resolved !
