In France they have les restaurants du coeur instigate by a singer now
deceased, called Coluche, after his death the Restaurants have kept going, it is becoming a bit of an institution, a step up from the soup kitchen. It is good to seem something positive being done. I am ashamed of my own apathy at times, I try and contribute some kindness to the world, as much as I can.

Some would sue. There is also a charity which takes food from restaurants and corporate functions to shelters and apparently the regulations are incredible

In America, you have more lawyers than the whole world put together.
well you know what I mean. Do you really think a tramp is going to suit the pants of a food company, I suppose it's one way to get rich, if you can afford a lawyer in the first place.

Good point avant. But the companies are scared of lawsuits if food is blame
for illnesses when it is given to homeless or food shelters. Part of our litigious society's creating more problems than they solve? Shalom

Nicely done
I worked as a supervisor at Sam's when I was in college. Our bakery would often throw out flats full of stuff expiring, but it was still delicious. Sometimes the local charity group would come by and get it, and sometimes it was discarded. I can remember seeing many people going to the dumpster for what was thrown away.

Get up, be fruitful & multiply? Great post; much needed. Gald u think these
thoughts. Yes, half the world is dying of food, the other, from having too much of it. But you do note there is a problem of logistics moving food from one place to another. In india it used to be of vehicles, roads and refrigeration. But another side of waste is the marketing Boards who dump oranges, eggs, milk -- by the tons into the sea to keep prices high. (AND I'm up at 4 am on a Sunday--wanted to listen to some news--more blood spilled, but us poets are trying to celebrate agape and the Mother Theresas).

It is the same with words as with food
much more is produced than is needed but everyone seems determined to be the celebrity chef
