Kids like this won't be safe unless we act
on our suspicions. Congressmen and judges and the like don't get involved in the day-to-day. They're involved after the fact, after somebody's maimed or killed. It's our job to watch out for the ones close to us. Yes, it could be embarrassing if we call authorities and it turns out things are okay. And maybe someone will get ticked off if we butt in. But we can't stand by if our neighbors are drugging or drunks or screaming and banging the kids around. If we just turn up our TV and ignore the situation, the kid suffers. And if the kid grows up to be a threat, that's on us, too.

I don't know that abuse will ever go away entirely but what we can change is how the system deals with it.

Yes they can! Write your congressman, etc... this is not unique to just Michigan!

If enough people refuse to accept the status quo I believe they will be forced to make changes.

Many people cared about him and when he was recovered many, many turned out for his memorial. He is in God's safe arms now.

It was and is horrible. The parents act as if they deserve some kind of compassion...I just am not that good of a person.

I can't imagine any parent acting like this and yet it happens way more
than any of us like to hear.

Oh, bel, will it ever end? Children are so helpless and their biggest mistake is trusting people.

I pray it will be better. All states have problems with this. It is so incredible that children have to be protected from their own parents. OMG

Bel -
Nearly every state has the same broken system, so something does need to change.

Blackcat
They just have to determine who actually killed him mom or dad. They both admit that he was murdered (of course each says the other did it). Either way they both should be convicted with little trouble.

I've been praying about something to help keep kids safe too.
Maybe a web site - I'll write about my ideas later.
