gome...
It doesn't really matter to me if you believe it or not. By speaking about him, you open yourself to discussion, and I'm already aware you don't believe in Satan's existence. I do, however, and a thought was expressed of a stereotype of a Christian, and a lie that many Christians believe and, in fact, use as an excuse for their sinful behavior. I wanted to clarify that not only do I take responsibility for my sins, I do not believe that Satan is a direct cause of sin in my life. That gives him too much power, and takes my participation away from my sin. I am a Christian, and I enjoy the forgiveness of God, but that does not mean I am immune from sin, not immune from temptations that Satan would throw at me. I have the choice to say, "yes, Satan, I'll take you up on that offer" or "no, Satan, you will not have any swar on my decision to follow and obey God."
I agree that a lot of people use him as an excuse for their sinful actions, but I think it is stupid for them to do so. Satan does not make anyone do anything. That's all I'm trying to say. Cricket ><>

pkcricket -- Satan has no place in my life either
I'm able to follow the history of how the church of Rome invented and elaborated on this mythical character, prior to the era of protestantism. Satan is a manmade concept, nothing more. He only exists within the minds of those who will not accept this and is rendered completely moot by those who do not believe in this concept. All temptations in life are derived from human nature and its inherent weaknesses. There is no invisible prince of darkness attempting to infiltrate the thought processes of mankind, there are only those willing to proliferate the concept. When I see people of your age group (college age) proliferating this fable, it solidifies my resolve in doing all that I can to insure that education remains secular in nature.
I'm sorry if you do not like my response but you must appreciate that you have left comments on my posting, someone who has professed not to believe in this stuff, referring to Satan as a real entity.

schatz...
I completely disagree about Satan's place in my life. He does not control me, he tries to influence me. It's up to me to go along with what he offers or to avoid it. That choice, being mine, is my responsibility. I know people try to blame him for their failures, but I do not blindly say he's responsible for anything bad in my life. I mess up many times. It's my decision to put myself in a position in which I know I will falter. I will say again...SATAN MAKES ME DO NOTHING...it's me who offers to play along with his charade. Christians who deny their own responsibility in sin and place it entirely on Satan's doings are lying to themselves, to God, and to man. Cricket ><>

The thing is, religious nuts are just that....
Nuts. Therefore, trying to argue with them is like trying to argue with a drunk. Their view of reality being so different from yours and mine (the factual one), how could you ever get anywhere?
'Satan' is for the weak willed who need an excuse for the wrongs they do. Then they aren't at fault, but rather a victim of Satan's temptation. UGH!!

TVBlogger - that is a really good point, at least for most people
When the reality of homosexuality existing in all species was brought up in the past, the general response from the biblically lobotomized obtuse was something along these lines: "animals aren't humans, they can't make choices between good and evil the same way that we can" ......where you and I would see the reality of a small percentage of all species being homosexual suggesting that it is a naturally occuring phenomona, some folks just refuse to see this.

Gome
Well then, Satan also spent time on our farm tempting and making one of our cat's gay... or actually bi. Sometimes he chased boy cats and sometimes he chased girl cats. And Satan was really busy tempting my collie/shepherd mix who sometimes attempted to mate with the cats, though of course, this was physically impossible. That Satan sure is busy making certain an equal percentage of all species rots in Hell.

I don't think Satan
makes anyone
do anything. But he does appeal to the sin nature in a person and that person has the choice to deny the temptation or to give in to it. Cricket ><>
