So the Univ. of Colorado has no right to terminate Ward Churchill? And itwould be OK to have a class stating black leaders had King shot to further the cause of Civil Rights?
Teach is exactlies what we're talking about.......It is an introduction to Islamic Studies course.....what does that have to do with an Introduction to Islam?

The Thing Is...
...just because The Majority believe the party line on 9/11, doesn't actually make the party line true.
Nor does it make it false, of course.
But there are many, many unanswered
questions around 9/11, and that makes thoughtful people suspicious.
When you stop alternative ideas being discussed (I doubt 'taught' is an accurate term here) in universities, you verge on a Fascist ideal of information control - which, is, of course, very much in keeping with the Bush regime.

He's worse than Churchill! Some of the latest on Churchill........
University of Colorado professor Ward Churchill stole the work of others, twisted facts to bolster his own theories and repeatedly violated the most basic standards of scholarly research, the committee assigned to investigate him wrote in a stinging report made public Tuesday.
For example: On one of the allegations - Churchill's claim that the U.S. Army intentionally spread smallpox among the Mandan Indians in 1837 - the committee concluded that the professor "has created myths under the banner of academic scholarship."
Hmmm. Who does that sound like?

Lensman.......
I appreciate your comments.....Look at the case of the President of Harvard, Lawrence Summers. This man was forced out because ....
In January 2005, Summers suggested at an economic conference that one reason there are fewer women than men in science and engineering professorships might be that fewer women than men had the very high levels of "intrinsic aptitude" that such jobs required. An attendee made his remarks public, and a firestorm followed in the national news media and on Harvard's campus.
The man suggest that men and women might think differently.............Was he saying one was more intelligent than the other? But academia went nuts over the comments, the mainstream picked up on it and rau it with a frenzy, and the man was out the door.
The same academia that is looking the other way with this nut case........where is the consistency???

fwmystic.....
I'm not so sure you could call this guy a leftist.....he converted to Islam and his rants are not of a Leftist nature....it just his supporters are the leftist hate-America crowd.........
This is not about Academic Freedom, mystic!
One more time...........Kevin Barrett who is a professor at the University of Wisconsin has asserted to his students in class that a covert operation by the United States blew up the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. He went on to say Al Qaeda does not exist and is only a straw man for the Bush Administration’s quest for power.
He offers no proof for his allegations other than his sick twisted mind’s hatred for this country.
The ‘Right of Free Speech’ does not super-cede responsible rhetoric in a classroom or relieve the obligation by a university professor to deal in basic facts. When we send our children to school should we not expect or demand from any teacher statements be backed by facts?
If the U. of Wisconsin fails to act immediately to rid their school of a paranoid individual such as Kevin Barrett it will only serve to dilute the credibility of the university and signal the continuing decay of higher education in this country.
Key word her, Mystic, credibility..........he has zip....nada.....none. SInce you chose to not discuss my suppositions.......let me try another one with you.
What if he were teaching creationism? That the world is only 5000 years old. Dinosaurs are a creation of people like Disney........Darwin was an agent of the British monarchy trying to undermine traditional British values........would you get in line behind this man then???
Do you get the point most here are trying to state?

This is what you get with a free flow of information ...
the right to judge for yourself whether to believe something or not. The loons are the ones that want to silence him in the name of "protecting the children." What a crock that is. Young fertile minds being "molded" by leftist professors? They don't listen to you, why would they listen to him?
The free market will work its magic if he indeed is a crackpot. Nobody will take his place and he'll fade away. I'd rather it happen that way than have you moral thermomators, you "deciders," tell me what's good for me. And no, I don't believe we went to the moon, either, or that Oswald was the lone gunman, or that there were WMD's in Iraq. But that's my choice!

Universities are prime ground for this kind of thing, because eighteen-year-old minds are so ideological and ripe for whatever cleverly-packaged agenda is foisted onto them. Small wonder, for instance, that the purveyors of political correctness chose universities as their sowing fields. I recall my youngest sister suddenly spouting PC at every turn, commencing almost the day she began university. My refusal to accept PC was particularly vexing to her; however, 20 years later, she has changed her tune, I'm happy to see. As for this guy in your post, I hope today's 18-year-old's are a discerning lot.

I hope that bizarre man Kevin Barrett will be turfed out in the end for incompetence - for it is simply incompetent to teach anything as 'fact' without backing it up with no more than hare-brained conjecture...
And I really don't know why you guys debate anything with that nitwit Glennb. I did some research on him, and found that he is actually an agent provocateur, working for the CIA...

I answer you point by point, your comment in italics.
"You are a confused shut-in of a man!" Really? It seems never to occur to you that it is you who inabits a fantasy world of your own creation. Unlike you, sir, I actually read what others write, and make substantive comments upon their writing. Unlike you, I do not attempt to overlay my opinions on what I read.
" When did "My Constitution" become a worthless piece of paper?" Another habit of yours, intimately related to the above criticism : that of putting words into the mouths of others. I was not aware that you had a " constitution", therefore am unable to offer an opinion as to its merits or demerits..
The Professor has a point! What pray is this point of his?
If it did not happen as he theorizes? Then what did happen? It is clear to anyone who is not wilfully blind that what happened was what people by the million witnessed on TV and on the ground.
How did these people slip under the eyes and noses of the Bush administration? They did so in much the same way that 19th century anarchist bombers, Nazi spies, IRA murderers and others intent upon the muder of innocents have always done. No system of security is foolproof.
Answer me!!!! I consider you answered, sir.

Do they do things like this to get attention? If so, it works. I'm for freedom of speech, so let the man talk, but for goodness sake, don't attend the classes. If he loses his audience, he'll have to change his subject, maybe to something more factual and less about his opinions.

You know, you really ought to either join the faculty where that fruitcake perverts the reasoning processes of immature minds ; or alternatively join his class.
You would find yourself in very like-minded company, and I really feel that you and he deserve each other.
You could spend entire seminars reinforcing each others fantasies, and honing your distortion-of-the-truth skills. Unfortunately, it's a little too late for Herr Goebbels to join you in your faculty, but with a bit of luck, maybe the fat fathead Michael Moore could be induced to contribute a little Moore bilge to your courses.

Think about this! What makes more fiction? A group of Arabs sat around and plotted to train to fly American Airplanes into the World Trade Center and "nobody" in the US Government had any clue! Or they had a clue and had no competent leadership to inform and prevent this criminal act!
