Writer of light, glad u asked. Or seemed to ask.I shouted & joined Kurds at
rallies and info meetings at Indian University in the 80s. I still have a tape I bought from them, GULISTAN. But even Bob Dole and George Bush senior were so in love with Saddam, we were shut up as naiive idealists. I have fought--and lived to celebrate--the end of apartheid. That  is why I worked as a deputy director in Mandela's Foreign Ministry. So, my brother, I try to walk the talk...and do ask, before ASSUMOING. I understand, forgive, know what we are up against in our world. Shalom

To add to Corbin's comment on YPunday:

Since you are so concerned about human rights abuses, what concern did you have for the human rights abuses that occured under the Saddam regime? If one case of rape so upsets you, then where was your outrage over government-sanctioned rape by Baathist goons as a standard form of punishment? Where was your outrage over torture and mutilation of their victims? Where was your outrage over Saddam's genocide agaisnt the Khurds and his army's pillaging of Kuwait?

If you want to throw scripture around, then you need to be mindful of the admonitions to not turn a blind eye to evil. You seem to have a problem seeing evil clearly beyond where it is politically convenient for you to find it. You want to bring Jesus into this, then what do you think He would say about you tolerating evil  on the scale of what was committed by the Baathists and what is still being committed by the terrorists?

Yes! Xenox Takes the Bait!

"No possibility at all" of WMDs. "But gobal [sic] warming is a fact."

And that's precisely the dichotomy I was pointing out. You refuse to acknowledge even the possibility of one danger, thereby ruling out any need to act on it, and you refuse to admit any questioning of the other.

I at least admit that climate change is occuring, even though I dispute the alleged cause. And I admit the possibility of WMDs, and advocate the appropriate actions to safegaurd against them.

And you think I'm closed-minded? Checkmate!

A problem of logic
The fact that an Iraqi woman was raped is tragic, but it has no bearing on the WMD question (yes, some were found, although they weren't particularly dangerous ones as WMD go).  You seem to be overlooking the fact that rape and murder happen all the time, even in nations that are not at war; particularly in Saddam's Iraqi, where those things were as widespread as sand.  Out of over a million American servicepeople who have served in Iraq, it would be a statistical impossibility for there not to be any wrongdoing by any of them.  That isn't callous; just stating what should be obvious.  Every serious allegation should be investigated, but that's different from holding Americans to some absurd standard and presuming every American of being guilty until proven innocent.

I may B open to new facts. Scientists r NEVER bias-free, but children dead
and civilians punished day after day, week after week, get no reaction from your human heart and being, gives me sadness. People will survive; as American Indians do in N and S America, despite war crimes by those who make the laws, make other legal or illegal, at whim. The correlation with WMD should also include the mistakes made by US now brings death and holocausts to an ethnic group/s in the region. Until we share concern for other people's children, raped daughters, unfairly imprisoned...we will not have peace in our world. As the bIble says, our seeds must take root in good soil, not on rocks or by the wayside. May th might of Jesus, a liberator, and my Savior also show you HIS light. Yet, shalom, shalom
