Religions seem heavy handed when it comes to issues like these

Amen!
You are not alone. I am with you on that theory.........it just doesn't add up. I was raised in a strict Baptist Churchs my whole life. I'm glad that I have explored the world and other religions. Self proclaimed "christians" with such narrow views and their non-acceptance or tolerance with other religions is really sad and ironic at the same time. My sister thinks I'm going to hell becuase I do not read the King James Version of the Bible....good grief....what about all of the people who believed and worshiped God before the King James Version? What about the Jews? Wasn't Jesus a Jew? What about Catholics.....these are all questions that I got dirty looks for asking when I was a "Baptist".

always wondered how he got all those animals in the ark
2 each of unclean, 7 of clean (1/6?)
was it ol' George Carling who asked it? -- or maybe Bill Cosby?
about the insects.
so were horses and cows covered with all manner of biting flies? -- mosquitoes -- what about those?
imagine the scenario.
then were all species alive then? -- frogs and toads and salamanders -- and termites and other wood-eaters -- how did the ark survive?
earthworms -- other worms -- parasites -- all the species of ticks and fleas and dust mites and such -- rats and mice -- oh yes -- did they al ljust stop copulating? -- after 40 days, imagine all the insect increase.
hamsters, gerbils, rodents of all sorts.
and they all just unloaded and scattered to the various continents -- as you say -- trekked a long way to steel down somewhere no other animals were -- Australia -- South America -- .
oh well.

SuccessWarrior - I saw that as well
and if I remember it correctly, it featured some knuckleheads who were out looking for the remains of the Ark. The flooding being regional does have as much support in terms of intelligent conjecture as a worldwide flood. None of this however changes the fact that what seem to be chronicles of extensive flooding exist in numerous folklores and myths around the globe. The explanation could be as simple as different flooding events, at different times in different regions.

Gome, I saw an account of Noah on a documentary
that stated that the flooding was probably very local and that Noah only took his own animals with him.

SuccessWarrior - I've heard a Native American account of the great flood
It is a story derived from an oral tradition and if you can imagine, differs dramatically from the biblical version. Where the NA version is not plausible either, as it has bears protecting all living things on earth by chasing them to higher ground, it does suggest that some global catastrophic flooding event may have taken place. When the NA oral tradition is examined, and the superstitions and beliefs of bears being a superior form of man are thrown out, it is not out of the realm of possibility that a human may have witnessed animals running for higher ground and described it with the knowledge and beliefs they had at the time. Then the obvious point gleaned from all of this becomes the fact that it exists in oral tradition, indicates that someone other than Noah survived the flood.

How did the kangaroo get from Turkey to Australia?

SuccessWarrior - What's odd about the Noah story?
Aside from God killing everyone with a flood and our species being repopulated by incest yet again and the Ark having to be the size of an aircraft carrier to hold all the animals and it being made of wood and the question of what did the carnivores eat while on the Ark and how did Noah arrange pick up of all of the animal species that were isolated on different continents before the flood? What part don't you believe?
