You seem to have overlooked that my comment was directed toward Corbin. Since you decided to Butt In, I'll take a moment to thank you for your hysterical comment because it gave me the heartiest laugh!

Corbin,
You are correct. There are many people who hate America. We can see it right here on this site. I like the people who spout their opinion like it's news. They really believe we are evil. And yet they miss the really evil ones including themselves. If America is that bad why do Blog, Glennb, Xeno-X, and people such as this still live here. I just don't understand this. Their contempt goes way beyond just political rhetoric. They truly hate America. Why don't they find a better place to live! You know why they don't......they can't. This is the best place to live isn't it!!

Corbin Dallas, thank you for this. Have you seen George Carlin's new HBO S
Special> I usually like his comedy, but it was way to anti-America. Just disgusting really.

BrightIrish,
Why must you people keep telling people how to witness criminal behavior! We know what this country is about! There are a lot of people who want to make it better! We would probably have to kick you BrightIrish ass out to make it happen!

Corbin Dallas,
That is the problem! you think George Bush, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Pat Buchanan, et al are making policy and are the only aspect of being an American! This is a very diverse Nation! With a lot of warts! And that diversity keeps your ass high above the fray! So dream on pal! When America goes there will be something much more pleasant to fill the void!

Fantastic post, Corbin.
And I see the usual players are doing their whining, once again . . . .
This country is far from perfect, and I would be the first to say that choices have been made I don't agree with . . . but wow! When you think of all that has been done just in this century, for the good of humanity, it far outweighs the bad, no matter what a handful of bloggers think.

I truely wish that some Americans as well as many abroad could see this country for all of its unselfishness and show due respect for our willingness to give aid when needed and our desire to help all those who desire freedom. Great Post!

Nobody "Hates" America, We All Just Want it to Behave Better...
As a journalist covering the Contras, I was struck by how many ordinary Nicaraguans bore no ill will toward the people of the US even though the President Reagan was financing mercenaries that were blowing up power plants and sewage facilities. When Big Business does something shameful in the name of the American people, you GOPers wrap yourself in the flag and accuse critics of being "anti-American."

Corbin - Good behavior in the past does not excuse poor behavior ...
... of late. The aggressive stance, aggressive language, cocky posture, lack of respect for the various cultures and values in the world, lies to the world, and (most importantly) unneccessary invasion of Iraq has rightfully made many in the world re-evaluate their attitudes of the U.S. "My way or the highway" is hardly a way to force-feed democracy to the world.

U.S. Actions Which Make the U.S. A Target
-
We are the only first world nation still employing the death penalty.
-
We refuse to cooperate or compromise as a member of the international community.
-
We lie to justify our actions affecting other nations.
-
We can attack any country of our choosing at any time regardless of the UN, international opinion, or proper justification.
-
We insist on having military bases and / or troops on the ground in Islamic countrys causing fury in much of the Middle East.
-
We may arrest anyone from any country for any reason at any time, and hold them prisoner at Guantanamo or in a secret prison in Eastern Europe, and deny them a defense.
-
Our Vice President waged public battle to protect the right to torture prisoners (locked up at Guantanamo or in a secret prison in Eastern Europe and deny them a defense).
-
We require all nations to adhere to the Geneva Conventions, but the U.S. has any number of workarounds to make certain WE do not have to adhere to those same conventions.

agreed on points
on others -- our "cop " role w/ India & Pakistan? -- hardly. We didn't pay a whit of attention to them until Afghanistan, when we needed (when I say "we", I mean the U.S. present administration of course) Pakistan -- we didn't need them before that -- and the Kashmir thing could threaten our relations -- and of course economic boost helps too -- but that still doesn't defuse the situation, which has existed for decades, ever since the division of the land that U.K. conquered after they gained their freedom.
ah --0 Iran!!! -- oh what a beautiful mess!!! -- one that is the direct result of U.S. meddlng -- I don;t need to say more.
And ask South America and Africa about U.S. policies (or lack thereof) -- the entire continent south of us is electing leftist leaders -- people who are highly critical -- there is fertile ground for oppositon.
a lot of pepole would like us more if we hadn't exploited them so much, promoted the assassination of duly elected leaders with whom we disagree, support oppressive regimes that are equal, if not worse than Saddam.
and then there's Mexico -- what have they received from us? not much -- American companies polluting their air and ruining the Rio Grande River and exploiting their workers because they don't have the unions and worker protection that we in the U.S. do -- then scoot out of there to find cheaper and more exploitable labor in SE Asia.
Actually, our U.S. leaders have lacked true morality -- that of fair treatment of others.
What you say of the U.S., you could say of theRoman Empire -- I think I read a few things from that time that sound very similar. And there do seem to be some parallels.

We both know that if a huge earthquake hit either North Korea or Iran or both...we'd be there to help. But why clutter the minds of hatred with an undeniable truth?

Somebody once asked me
what I thought America would do in the even of an attack on France (this was some time ago). I honestly didn't take two seconds to answer. Without a doubt I believe we would send help immediately. This person though I was crazy, I still stand by that statement. I have no doubt even with the way France responded to us going into Iraq, if the time came we would be there to help.
