I don't think I'm "out of style" or
"out of fashion." I was never in. I always bought plain lines, colors that could mix and match, and really good shoes -- not Monolo Blaniks or designer things -- just well made shoes. Someone told me nobody ever got much done in uncomfortable shoes. BTW, how was the movie?

Nanaroo, Gideon is a huge fan of the first Pirates movie,
I'm not so much. We'll probably go see it. Johnny Depp has got talent, you have to give him that. He's not just another pretty face. That quote about Keira Knightley reminds me of Calista Flockhart's denial of her anorexia. Uh, hello, we can see your vertebrae.

yeah, I understand... I'm still trying to decide if I want to see the new 'Pirates' movie. I saw the article about Kiera Knightly this morning- her saying, "I'm not anorexic' and wearing a dress that basically was a few strips of cloth over a boy's skinny body- it was shocking! I don't really like Johnny Depp either...

Nanaroo,
I haven't seen Superman yet, but we may yet. There are a few other things out right now that I want to see, but nothing really rings my bells.

Hey, you're right about the Australian hottie! And I did also like your review of the movie.

I'm like you with the old standby outfits. I think we're just creatures of
habit?

Nanaroo, Simon Baker is a hottie, isn't he?
Gideon and I had to look him up on IMDB to figure out what else he's been in. I didn't rmember it, but Gideon remembered the series, "The Guardian", a few years back. He was the perfect playah for this movie, the bad-boy she couldn't resist.
Anyway, I had the same fleeting urges to run out and buy shoes after the movie, but one thing that bugged my boyfriend was that seemed to be the message of the movie: Get a makeover and your life will be transformed, where a guy has to slay a dragon or something to get taken seriously.
It does seem to be the case that a complete fashion makeover is required in movies like this. I got some heat from a few people in my review of this, for comparing Anne Hathaway to Audrey Hepburn, (more just joshing than serious heat, and believe me, I know heat). I'd say they were consciously trying to work that image by some of her gowns in Paris and her wide-eyed ingenue look, between Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina (the original with Humphrey Bogart) and Anne Hathaway, but there really is no comparison in terms of Audrey's combination of fragile vulnerabiliity, class, elegance and that certain French phrase I can't spell.
I liked the movie, I liked Meryl Streep as the Dragon Lady, she was perfect in a Cruella Deville kind of way. Stanley Tucci and Emily, the English assistant had great parts, too.
