.Dave, I have never cared much for the posting of distribution lists
for the very reasons you cite: they only add to the cult of personality and the illusion that popularity equates to quality, which it so patently does not.
Many less confident or established bloggers may be discouraged and leave, thinking that they are not getting read. It sets a bad tone and, last but not least, it's just plain tacky to advertise who one reads, as a form of self-promotion, at someone else's expense. Tacky and shameless self-promotion being the least of it's offenses.
I think the tone here, in general, has degenerated signifiantly over the last year. I'd say, one year exactly, in fact. I am in favor of your proposal and I'll support it. If Blogit will add a feature to make it an option for bloggers to read someone else's distributioin list, then I'm all for it.
