Kooka lives - I know how you feel, believe me. I am almost driven to the
point of insanity sometimes by them, begging to anyone who will listen to PLEASE give me a break.  And when they are gone, I feel alone, guilty, crazy - (the sounds, I swear you are not alone.  ) I will go sit in there room, play the playstation.... cartoons (grimm adventures of billy and mandy and ed, edd, and eddy are my fav) and just completely senseless as to "what to do" with myself.  But listen to me mister...try to make the best of it.  I know you kinda sorta feel disconnected right now, that's how I feel, so what I do is something wonderful for them when they come home.  LIttle nothings that are big somethings to a kid.  Plus you have a wife - see, I dont have a significant other...so my actions are limited to the kids..hehe.  But you could occupy your time and actually feel close to them by doing somethng to make them happy and feel special.  if your house is already clean (like, base boards clean..lol) then go pick flowers and put them in a vase all around the house, or rearrange the furniture a bit to make it look different.  You get the idea, your a smart fella.  The kids, I usually have something for them to see (I'm broke, all my stuff is free...) right when they walk in the door.  Balloons, "I missed you" cards I will make and place them on their beds... ANYWAYS, this a long comment. You know what I mean.  Don't sit there and listen for the imprints of your kids...hahaha....spend your time with them in your heart for their coming home to be more wonderful.  PLUS, your wife will think, "He had time to spend to do for himself, and all he could think about was us?  He did THIS for US???"  Get my drift?

Actually that does seem to fit the way the sounds have always felt.  Some kind of an imprint left there to play back every so often.

I was just watching bunch of cartoons my wife record for them because I had nothing else to do.  I just felt like sitting around and taking it easy and there was nothing worth watching on.  So even then the kids are still kind of here.

It is just to damn quiet in this house right now.

The sounds have always seemed to be to be a common sound of the present, so I figure the sounds that are being recorded somehow always fairly recent.  Basically it is just sounds, never seen anything.  And you can only hear them down here as if they are coming from upstairs and they sound like they are coming from the kitchen or the front doorway.

As a child it was normally a chair being dragged across the floor.  Today it was the sound of a bunch of plastic hitting the floor.  All I can figure is that either the pipes sand such are made of something that can record sound under certain situation or the house was built on certain mineral deposits that do the same thing.

A friend of mine could not spend the night at this house without the radio on because of the sounds you would here.  This room uses to be my bedroom when I was a kid, so I am very much used to the sounds and for the most part ignore them.

I don't believe in ghosts and feel that any such things have a rational explanation to them, although I have seen a few things in my life that I have been unable to explain.

Maybe when Xeno_X reads this he can tell you if he has ever heard any odd sounds when he has stayed the night here in the basement.  Although he has never been in the house alone as so might have just written anything he heard off to us being upstairs.

That is part of the fun of headlines.  You can play around with people's perceptions a little to get them to check your post out.

Same thing happened last year, although they did not leave till the 5th, so we had the 4th together.  Still does seem strange to have the house so quiet.

I used to hear things all the time when I was left home alone, so I am somewhat used to it.  it is just more notable when there is no one making active noise upstairs.

hahaha...no, what it is, is the life your kids have experienced so much
in the house is still left in it....lol.   Kinda like in a cartoon, when a critter darts off, you see the streaks kinda hang around then follow...  That's what I tell myself because I do and hear the same thing when i'm alone.  (Which is hardly EVER)  I don't know what to do with myself, do I eat now?  Bathe?  I will walk around and just try to make one decision.  KNow what that decision is?  Turn on cartoon network and watch billy and mandy.  I'm ruined, they ruined me.

I don't know if you believe in "ghosts" and such...
but I have read things, about energy being left over from the past.

It may be possible that you're hearing things that have happend in the past in that house, coming from left over energy.

People sometimes confuse this with "ghosts".
To my understanding, a real "ghost" will respond if you say something to it etc.
If it doesn't respond, then likely it's just left over energy.
