I think it's against the law in Ontario now, use of a cell phone. Anyway, it is extremely dangerous and the user applies the same thinking as a drunk driver,

"I can do it, I'm a terrific driver."

Uh, I can speak with some authority as an AA.-;)

I drive with my bluetooth headset. It's really not much different than

driving while singing along to your favorite song.   I have no issues with concentration or paying attention to the road.

However, when I have to pick up the phone to dial, it's extremely dangerous.  I can tell immediately that I lose my focus.  It's best to store voice recognition in your phone and "dial" by calling out a name through the headset.

I actually saw someone on the phone the other day, using the "speakerphone" option.  This is just as bad as holding it to your ear, except somehow they think this eliminates them from the "hands-free" law in this area?

I think alot of people honestly believe they can drive and

Talk on their phone but they can't. Multi-tasking is somethng that a few people are good at but not everyone.

Teens are especially dangerous bec of their lack of experience. Anytime I see a teen driving and on the phone I get away from him.

I know exactly what you mean!  If you can't talk and drive then drive SOLO!  For whatever reason some people do not think they can talk without looking around and I don't get it!  When you kiss the back of a semi or a concrete wall that conversation will be over for good!

A bluetooth headset....

is a great investment.....but does the problem come from the hands or the head?   Do people get so involved with their conversations that they lose track of their surroundings?

You know the type...you're riding in the car with them, the car is full, and you're in the back seat..... and they can't talk to you without turning around to talk "to" you?  Or as they talk they begin to slow down......

Only with cell phones, these same people, who when alone are more attentive to the task......are now capable of talking all of the time....

Even last year when I would answer my phone while driving

I used a headset.  I would not miss a call from Carl, but I wasn't going to drive and try to control or look for my cell phone.  Even then I would find the first place to pull over.

I know someone who rolled her car, trying to find a ringing cell phone...something is very wrong with the picture!
