I also love cotton candy.
It's almost inhuman how much I love it. I'll eat a whole bag or stick by myself.

Bel_1965, this post signifies the phases of life
Sometimes we can be the do-ers and givers and other times we are the recipients. What a difference a year makes.

Shelly
Exactly my point!  Without those like your cousin, we would have NOTHING to celebrate.  My heart aches for you and your family and I will make a point of saying a special prayer for Chris.  Your family paid the ultimate price and while I am so terribly sorry, I am very grateful as well.

Oh, yummy, bel - I love cotton candy - love it, love it, love it!
Happy 4th to you and Carl and God bless you, you're such a sweetie.

bel, not to sound somber or anything...but this one is a tough one for me..

I've been thinking alot of my cousin Chris(killed in March).  I can't help think about his family this weekend, I'm sure it will be a sad holiday for them.  I went to his gravesite last weekend, and just cried. Oh, and his parents just had his stone added, and flags.  Even though it was sad, it was a beautiful site.

Anyway, it sounds like you're doing a great job getting things together...and cotton candy, yum!  I hope you guys have a WONDERFUL weekend!!!!

Wow! You have been a busy gal!

But it sounds like you're doing an excellent job....not letting any of those little things slip thru the grates.

I hope you guys have the best Fourth ever!

The 4th has always been a big deal to me
In the small town where I grew up in Arkansas this was the highlight of the year.  They still have a big (for them) picnic with a carnival and beauty contests.  But the big deal was always the parade, led by the veterans of the town and the fireworks at the end of the day!  Have a wonderful event!

Pat

As my dear friend from Sweden says often (which proceeds to crack me up) you hit the head on the nail!!!

The emotions that go with this holiday hit me where I live.  I will never forgot how it felt last year.  Thank you so much!

Your mixed emotions remind me of someone I used to know
a wonderful lady, a widow of a WWII veteran. She got teary-eyed at every occasion where the flag is honored, because it reminded her of what her husband had gone through. He'd been a hero (aren't all men and women who put their lives on the line for us?) and they'd been together more than 40 years when he passed away.  The 4th of July celebration is a mixed bag of pride, joy and sorrow.  Goes with being a caring American.  I hope the fireworks and everything goes without a hitch and you have great weather!
