Symph,
Rolls of screen material are usually not expensive. Putting them up is no fun.
If you know of any farm supply stores, or anything like that, you can usually get fly poison that can be soaked into a rag or burlap sack. Flys check in, but they don't check out. They use it a lot around dairy barns, so it is quite safe when properly used. You don't have to hose the place with spray, but you do have to be careful where you put the soaked cloth. You don't want any pets or people to get hold of them.

YOu are so cute!!! If you really don't like to kill them. Burn some sandalwood candles. From some reason that seems to deter them.

I still prefer the old fly swatter.
Allows me to be a savage without actually having to go out and club a mastodon to death...

We can't use any bug sprays in the house ...
because it could be harmful to my pets (seeing as most of them are bugs, too).
Flies rarely enter the house, anyway. The only downside is that, when they do, our cat occasionally ends up knocking over furniture while chasing them.
P.S. Spiders are people, too! (http://www.blogit.com/Blogs/Blog.aspx/LifeBlog/348417)

I use the lamp that attracts bugs and zaps them without odors. Screens with fine nets can also prevent bugs from getting into the house.
