I have always been a big fan of Barbara Walters

and rosie odonell.... until recently at least...  When Rosie "came out" so did her true mean and nasty personality.

Frankly I thought Star was harsh.

But now, I have to say I am behind star.

Thanks and I Agree
I have been out town and it seems that I am having difficulty responding consistently.  I appreciate the comments!

Sophistie,

Right now, it looks like there is way too much controversy surrounding the show for it to see any chances of success.  I've nothing against Rosie or Star.  I've enjoyed Rosie's work in a few movies, and I think Star is beautiful, though a little too thin, at this point.

I guess I'm of the minority of people who think that Star maybe should have kept on some of the weight, though if she's happy with the way she looks, that's all that matters.  Rosie has been in and out of the spot light for years.  I think the "coming out" thing was mostly a publicity stunt.  Who really cares if she's a lesbian?  It just seems fashionable to have some controvesial angle in one's life, at least in Hollywood, and I guess that's the best she could come up with.  Who really knows?

As for Barbara Walters, sounds like sour grapes on her part, to me.  She's just miffed that Star one-upped her about when and how to announce her own departure.  Walters should not forget from where she came, and how much trouble she had breaking into the "good old boys" club.  After all these years, when you really look at the big picture, she's still not there.  Still trying to prove something.  Just my opinions.  Thanks.  :)

Hi.. From what I have seen and heard I am also behind Star. I'm curious to see how Rosey will do as co-host of the view.

..why do we watch train wrecks?

The stereotype spot they needed star to fill has been around a long time
in this country. They seem to hold on to it tightly decade after decade. I
think Barbara Walters is just showing she is from the old school. People
seemed to think in all those hard nosed interviews she did she was searching
out the truth. Newsflash, she was just looking down on the oddities of others.
A bonafide Judgemental B****!!!!

Sophistie, I have been totally out of the loop on this one.

I don't think I've ever watched an entire episode of The View, just caught bits and pieces channel-surfing, mostly for the reasons you've just described. It seemed made up of pre-existing stereotypes.  It's hard for me to relate to the personal problems of people too rich and famous to have "personal problems" that would require a lawyer, a personal trainer, a therapist, a massage therapist, trainer, personal chef, agent, etc.

I dislike bullies who use stereotypes, derisive and sarcastic language, libelous insinuations, and a bully pulpit, in general, to wield whatever petty dictatorial power they have to break someone else's spririt and shut them up.  For such people, I have no use and only contempt.

Talion and Jane
I agree.  It seems that they want fat/minority for the role.  Is this a new stereotype???  If so, it is not what we need.  Many sitcoms often protrayed the Black Mama or lead female role of an overweight person!  Thanks for commenting!

In my book Star is a class act . . .
And Rosie?  Well, I'll not go there except to say that I have no respect for the woman.

Sophistie

When Star Jones, a black woman, was all fat, there wasn't a problem. She loses weight, looks better than she ever has, and suddenly, they don't want her anymore. Who do they replace her with? Another fat woman who's a lesbian. Maybe it's just a coincidence, maybe not, but it sounds like they're looking for a certain type of person (an overweight minority) rather than someone who's best for the show.

Bel.. I Certainly Agree!!
I do not mind people with their unusal behavior until I see them intentionally do harm to others for no reason.  Rosie has her audience share and needs/needed to tend to her own affairs!  All of this "out of the closet" business is disturbing and I can definitely understand the necessity of a gag from yourt view!!  Thanks for commenting!

I have had this overwhelming desire
to gag Rosie for years!  The woman drives me buggy!  Good for Star, I have heard bits and pieces of what happened, but she did was any confident woman would do.  She took charge or her OWN life!
