Or is that not how you get into heaven? So many rules, I can't remember?

JanesOpinion - there is not a flip side to this coin
This post clearly deals with the propensity of some people to use the bible as a means of justification for horrendous acts. This post isn't a comparison of the good things religion does versus the bad things that religion does but trust you to see it that way.

On the flip side of the coin, to add a little perspective and balance
there are members of churches from all over the US who went to help the predominately black citizens of New Orleans recover from the hurricanes. And not only to New Orleans, but to other parts of Louisianna, Mississippi and elsewhere. In fact, one group that went was told by a non church attending person whose personal property had been destroyed by the hurricane "if it were not for the church groups and students coming to help, we would be in a lot of trouble."
So for you and our fellow bloggers, keep in mind that the KKK is one sick (but now very small) element of a religion that has been a blessing to thousands and I would dare say millions.
Congrats, Gomedome, on surpassing the 10,000 mark.

Christianity's hijacking, as you put it, is not alone. Consider feminism and other "isms." Those who are in it for the right reasons are eventually supplanted by radicals whose agendas are purely greedy, self-serving or hate-driven. It's a shame, but it happens. Those who annoy me the most, however, are the sheep who follow the radicals rather than staying the course of their own original, benevolent agendas.

I mentioned earlier that I was going to fix this like one of those crooked 50/50 draws where the winner is from out of town so never mind the comment just before yours, you are the 10,000 reader of this blog. Congratulations.

And humbled beyond words. Thank you. And while you may not know it GD, Sunny and I started a new relationship only minutes ago. I think this must be Divine Providence. With deep appreciation, Samhain_Moon

Sunnybeach7 and Samhain_Moon - yep, you both rise up to heaven

And not bad postions in the rotation either. You are both at the point if someone is going to notice the movement in the right hand column, your name should just about be ready to come up.

Sunnybeach7 - this is probably the most extreme example there is
But it does illustrate where self righteous justification can lead to. The really scary part about this is that as the KKK developed into a fraternal brotherhood, it began enveloping many otherwise decent folk who choose to turn a blind eye to the element of violence that has always existed within it.

Good example of one of the many forms of hatred that can be backed up by the bible.

Samhain_Moon - peridoically I edit the positions of the rotation
which is now becoming due. Unfortunately I have to scoot for a few hours to make a few bucks but will do the edit later today. For now your name is last in the rotation but will be bumped up to a higher position later.

Every religion claims to be a religion of love; yet, too many followers condemn, hate, and demonize others. How can anyone justify such actions in the name of a God who is said to be the creator of all and who lives as a spark in every heart? Unfortunately, the history of religions is checkered under the very best of interpretations. Samhain_Moon
