Bel, I'll have to further research into the history and mission of the
National Guard, I'm getting conflicting reports. Not that my thinking one way or another is going to influence national policy, lol! Anyway, they sound like a great bunch of people and a lot of fun.

Actually if you will look at the history of the Guard this is exactly what they signed up for. Vietnam was actually a unique situation in which they did not go in large numbers. I'll have to pull out my info and do a post on the history of the Guard and so on.
As for Carl and PJ...I believe Courtney and I will be spending a great deal of time keeping those two from causing some poor sucker a whole bunch of misery!

What a riot. You really shouldn't let Carl and PJ out without adult supervision. Poor Bill never knew what hit him, I'm sure. He's scarred for life. I can't believe Pete's hanging out with Drama Queen, because he's afraid she'll create MORE drama when he leaves. He's only delaying the inevitable, if he's walking on eggshells now, it'll only get worse. My stepmother was like that with my Dad, it's an exhausting way to live.
I watched the first part of the PBS clip you linked to on Carl's unit. It seems wrong to me to send the Guard, which was designed to provide defense and emergency rescue services here at home, for things like Hurricane Katrina, wildfires, etc. to a war zone, and leaving the home front unprotected. MG feels pretty strongly that is not what these guys signed up for, and that they got "bait and switched". It is a tough decision to make. I hope and pray Scott comes home early and safe.

Nice update kiddo, I should have been there 'cuz I can only dance the slow ones.
It used to drive Joycie up the wall because she could do it all, jitterbug, can can all of it.
When she and her sister Rita danced together 'cuz Mert and I were alike, they danced up a storm.
