Once upon a time, I saved up for a month to buy tickets to a weekend
music festival that I'd been banging on about going to all year.
I passed a pet shop window, a little furry thing caught my eye, a kitten with a bad eye infection, and three of his siblings.
The pet shop owner wouldn't sell me the little runt, they told me they were getting his eye fixed, so I didn't question further and bought the rest. I was living in an apartment, so I took them home to my aunts.
Mama Cat is the only surviving one, she is 13 years old now and has had about 7 litters before getting neutered. Over the years it's been baby rabbits, a biermann kitten caught in hedge (had to get his foreleg amputated it was so bad mangled) and a stinky half Siamese kitten caught in a drainpipe near Murphy's brewery.
I've been forbidden to go near anything winged or furry (aside from my husband, and he's more interested in his nintendo game cube).
So it's just as well there are no racoons here, I'd be laying extra places at the table.

Johnathan wants to have one of your babies...
He's always bugging me about getting a pet. A racoon would be just his style. (Although, yesterday it was a duck. A baby duck? I ask. No, a Mommy duck so she can give us all her duck eggs...and you think 6 is a problem...I'm about to have a whole flock...)

Was it George Thoroughgood? Don't ask me how I know that.
I'm a fountain of useless trivia, Bel. Sunglasses at night? Well, I only wear mine to leave my building now.

I knew someone would know the song!!! Pixie keeps all the other cats away. Our actual pets are indoor animals. As for the other strays, I don't get too many because of Pixie.

"Rocky raccoon checked into his room, only to find Gideon's bible"
I'd be leery of the racoons, too. I'm not so sure they don't eat cats, maybe one of the less "bad' cats than your mama cat.

Everytime I saw him I thought of the Beatles song..so Rocky he became. As for strays...everyone knows I am a sucker. How do you think I got the cat? Her owners were idiots and instead of finding her a home, they KNEW we were feeding her after their house burned. I couldn't leave her to starve to death!

Bel....
you sound like me when it comes to animals. We have fourcats and two of them were strays that I "had" to take in. (I never met a stray that I didn't take in) I think the strays know who the soft touches are! LOL BTW, I like your cat's name! LOL

The cat is without a doubt the dominant one. I have seen her chase Rocky off more than once and he is at least twice her size. She goes after him and he RUNS!!!!

And I'm for leaving the raccoons alone. We have a family of raccoons living in one of huge blue spruce trees...and they leave the cats alone!

You are the MOTHER to half dozen racoons and God knows what else that shows up at your door.
Next thing you know a whole string of baby ducklings will be following along behind you going, "Quack, quack, quack."
