It depends on what type of action flick it is
The latest Charlie's Angels flick wasn't all that great - certain scenes bordered on X-rated. But at least with the
Death Wish series, Bronson put good solid motivation behind the character. His wife was murdered and his daughter ended up in a mental institution from PTSD. He turned into a vigilante because he was a loving father and husband and sick of the slowness with which the justice system worked - and he struck a cultural nerve.

Nice comments
You wrote some good stuff, and it's nice to see a female who enjoys action flicks---by the way I love chickflicks, and I can't get a date! Go figure.
