ON a large level your reaction this was EXACTLY my reasoning for sharing this.  I am not unique and I certainly was not the last for this to happen to.  I hope to encourage others to take a stand and DEMAND that we protect our most valuable asset: Our children.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts.  Please don't kick a cow, he won't feel it but you may break your foot!

Dear bel_1965,

I know it must have taken some tremendous courage to share this, and though I don't know what causes any of us to share such personal thoughts we people, I thank you.  I'm angered, outraged, saddened, completely confused by this.  I'm sorry you had to go through this, and I admire your protective instincts of your sister, though no child should have to feel that kind of responsibility, fear or guilt.  God, I'm babbling here.  The man should be in jail, and that's the most humane thing I can think to say.

This brings thoughts into my head that I shouldn't be thinking, the kind for which I have to pray forgiveness.  God, help us!  If anything gets me pissed off, it's the abuse of children, whether, physical/sexual, emotional, exploitive, neglect, or some form of manipulation, such as parents who use their children as tools and weapons.  ArgHHH!  I could kick a cow!

Tell that to the prosecutor would refused to take the case because it had "been too long".  You are right, he should be and then deported back to Canada with his convicted murdered of a brother.  No, I am not joking, his brother murdered a woman, did about 15 or so years and was released.

Thanks Bel...I know the past few days have been awful in terms
Of all long, grueling discussion on this subject. I think many of us have heard your story plus a few others and we're suddenly facing the horrible nature of this crime. Maybe a few of us will 'wake up' and find that we have the guts to do something to turn this painful cycle of violence around.

I wrote it because I hope people will understand the damage that is done to children from people like this.  The notion of curing them makes me crazy!  They are criminals plain and simple!

Bel.....
It took a lot of courage to write this and I am so sorry that you had to endure this as a child. Fortunately something like this has never happened to me and I am a non-violent person, but when I hear stories like this all I can think is that low life should rot in jail for the rest of his life while he himself experiences sexual abuse every day!
