Yeah, yeah.

I'm still working on that self editing thing here. Gotta reread after I do a spell check.

That's OK, Kooka -- "harmony" is definitely a good word!

"harmonies" in our foods?
Do you mean "hormones"?????  If so, I quite agree.  I'm all for organic foods!!

I wrote a post a little while back about the all the teacher sleeping with their students where I talked about how children are physically maturing so fast right.  You might want to check that out.  The basic reason is because of the harmonies that are in just about all of our foods.

Of course the ruling had nothing to do with maturity, but with the way the laws are presently set up. Historically 12 has not been considered too young and in some countries they do marry the children off that young still.

xenox, of course they married young back in the Middle Ages.

The average lifespan then was what, about 30 years?  They were having kids at age 12.  If common law marriage was legal at 18, they'd only have 12 years to raise their kids.

It was merely common sense back then.

Interesting case. Thanks for sharing it.
I would agree that 12 is just a wee bit too young; however, girls are reaching menarche (first menstrual period) at earlier and earlier ages -- 9 years old is not uncommon -- so I guess you could say they're PHYSICALLY mature enough to marry.  Emotionally, though, I'd say that 12 is way too young.

interesting
it would also interesting to reserach into marriage practices in Europein the middle ages -- like the commonlaw you speak of -- English common law -- early marriages i wouild suppose were pretty much the norm.

one advantage to an early marriage is you get the child bearing out of the way and the kids get pretty much grown and on their own by the time you are ready to get an education and better your life
