No way, Symphony,
Why worry about what you or can't control?  There is still a lot of love and goodness in the world. Like you for example.  Sweet people who really are not out to do anybody any harm, just enjoy life and do the right thing.  Have a great day, don't let the negativity get to you!

Symphony, I know that papers and tv stations feed that because it sells

and people have developed an appetite for the worst news, but it doesn't make me safer to know that there was a robbery in some other part of town.

I take the normal precautioins for a woman living in the city.  There is more violence now and when my neighbors get loud in apartment next door, I always tense up, wondering  if and when I should call the police, but usually it's nothing.

Whoaaa! that's weird!

posted by shelly_b on June 12, 2006 at 11:52 AM | link to this | reply

I know what you mean Blanche01 ...I get ever so upset over such things

I can't do nothing about...its just all too emotional to take in....

My Mum tells me such horrid things about the news that I just don't want to hear because I find myself just thinking on it and hurting over it...and really wanting to do something about it,...but nothing I can do....which leads to frustration....I wish I could change the cruelty in the world...nobody can

posted by _Symphony_ on June 12, 2006 at 11:48 AM | link to this | reply

it makes sense to me, why get myself all worked up about something
I have no control over and does me absolutely no good to hear?  I mean, if wathcing the news made me smarter or better informed instead of just scared, it's one thing, but all it does it just scare people with random acts of violence.  Who needs that?  I'm more selective about what I expose myself to.

Thank you so much Blanche01 ...it's nice to know I am not the only one
who avoids the tragic news.....Take care and enjoy the rest of your day..

Symphony, well, there's one lesson I'll bet she'll never forget!

I agree with you about the news. A lot of people here get disgusted with the lack of coverage and just blatant bias in news stories.  Plus, it's all BAD news.  It's not like so and so's kitten got rescued out of a tree, or even if someone is abducted and found, they still went through the trauma of getting abducted in the first place.

I'm much happier, just getting little pieces of news through my emai, I signed up for the New York Times online, at least, I can screen it more and only read a little at a time.   But, you know what, basically, there are sitll more good, decent people than not, who are caring, friendly and otherwise just want to get on with their day.  I hope your day goes smashing!

Is this a true story or just something
From one of those magazines like Natl Enquirer???

It ended happy so its ok to laugh. I've had my own 'hot' experiences. My experiences revolve around pizza and getting my chin burned with dangling cheese.

Symphony, we can all learn from that story. WoW, I do that all the time.

I taste my food while I'm cooking it.  Guess I'll think twice about doing it again.  lol

My husband was in Iraq last year, you could always find me in Passion and Offbeats blogs as well as others including yours and the one thing Maggie remembers about me is clone-a-willy!!!

When your country was attacked last year is when you and I met.

It's always best that way!  I don't care for too many prepared foods, I ate way too many of them last year because it was easier and less waste for one person, but now it's back to the fresh fruits and veggies!

Tut tut! You don't know what an oven chip is??? Go to the back of the class!

They're frozen chips ( fries) that one cooks in the oven. Not for throwing tho'

posted by ariel70 on June 12, 2006 at 5:13 AM | link to this | reply

What is an oven chip??
I assume it's a form of potato and I know what fish and chips are (your chips are our fries) so is this an over fry?  Or is it different?

posted by bel_1965 on June 12, 2006 at 5:11 AM | link to this | reply

I won't be eating chips straight from the oven!
