I get email solicitations but ignore them.

Gomey

Nope, just my whimsical sense of humour at work.

Gome, I have come to find that one way or another, you will get an opinion
from someone hell bent on spreading their message....ask for it or not.  Here in the south, all you have to do is walk in the room.

TAPS- it most likely has been attempted but I have never seen it

posted by gomedome on June 9, 2006 at 9:45 AM | link to this | reply

Kiddo75 - all kidding aside, "asking for it" is a reality of voicing a
religious opinion.

ariel70 - you have to tell us more about this
Or is it in one of your postings that I have missed?

posted by gomedome on June 9, 2006 at 9:37 AM | link to this | reply

Maybe it has been attempted????    I delete an awful lot of emails without opening and reading.   If I don't recognize who its from, I don't bother with it.

GOME, you asked for it....hahaha

Gomey

Nope, never had the dubious pleasure of them. But I must be the only guy in history to be plagued with obscen and murderous phone threats from the Samaritans.

Er ... I don't suppose you ever man a Samaritan switchboard, do you?

TAPS- I'm wondering why it hasn't been used more by some religious groups
We all know that there are some less than reputable groups using religion as a means of making a few bucks. I can't remember ever being spammed by one of these groups (not that I want to give anyone any ideas). All such contact that I have ever had has come from a "warm contact" type of situation.

You know, gomedome, I don't know.   I have to admit here that I have never "witnessed" to anyone via email.   I'm afraid that I use email for more venial pursuits.

Kiddo75 -- I've had a few emails open with hell and my inevitable arrival

there as the subject matter.

I replied to once such email (I was immediately sorry that I did) to ask one fervent numbnut what his problem was. His answer was that it was his duty in the eyes of Jesus, his lord and master, to attempt to save anyone he comes across in life who is obviously going to hell.  Gee, is my going there that obvious?

TAPS- - Okay, then I have a question
If God uses email, amongst the other tools that he uses, who is his Internet Service Provider? Or does he need one? I would guess probably not, that omnipotence can come in handy.

gomedome, your comment, "I have to admit that email is a powerful tool but powerful enough to save souls?" sent me on a little internet search of salvation testimonies.  I found other "tools" that were even more unique than emails:  a college exam, a jail term, a medical bill, a horse, etc.   I laugh as I write this because it does sound like some kind of "divine comedy" but it is not the "tool" that is powerful, the power is in God using the "tool".

hehe.....I get them sometimes myself...some wanting to save me from
the hot pit of hell in which I am apparently going.  I had no idea that using foul language earns you a place next to Satan himself.  Goes right on past murder, rape, robbery...all that.  Let 'em pray I suppose.....heard it's hot down there.  I live in Mississippi, I be damned (haha) if I live in anymore hot air.

Gomey, yikes! Glad the problem was resolved, even if by blocking emails.

Ariala - it was someone you probably know who has departed
and it got a little uncomfortable. A few flirtatious remarks are one thing, an old guy like myself finds that sort of thing flattering and endearing. But this was quite another thing, it got lewd in the end with offers of photos and language that was crystal clear as to the intent. I had to block her emails.

Gomey, I surely wasn't the girl who pledged my undying love to you, was I?

Ariala - I was thinking of a conversation you and I had a few months back

when I wrote this.

I hadn't noticed that this blog had hit #2 overall. I guess there is no accounting for taste but it is almost a certainty that the rankings for this blog will plummet soon. I'm not willing to put in the necessary effort to reaming here.

Gome, oh wow...I didn't even read this blog before writing what I just
did in Life...must be on the same wavelength this morning.  Forgive me for writing on the same thing...by the way, congrats to you on making it to #2.  I think you'll enjoy #1 soon!

cantey_1975 - welcome back to Blogit
It's been a long time since you have graced our cyber community. Many things have changed since. Many new bloggers as per usual, a new blogging interface with added features but the same old rhetoric dished up for debate and sometimes ridicule.

Sunnybeach7 - the funniest ones are the young ones
They are absolutely certain that they have the answers. Fresh out of bible school with their sparkly clean brainwashings, they charge out into the world to be nothing more than one major pain in the butt to all who have to endure them. The 20 year old I mention in this post was newly married and relentless in his pursuit until I gave him a few figurative slaps in the head. How do you tell someone that you don't need their "spiritual guidance" and that you own suits older than they are? I didn't have the heart to tell him that he was also in the two biggest marriage failure demographics. Being extremely young and a fundamental Christian gives him about 10 to 1 odds of being married in 5 years.

DarrkeThoughts - that's a scary thought
and now that you coin a phrase for it in "Spamming for Jesus" it's a wonder that we haven't seen more of it?

Gome
How are things? Good to see you're still here flexing ye ole intellect by commiting random acts of violence on stupidity. Greetings.

I think that some of them believe that they are "obligated"
to try to save others.

I've heard that if you're a new JW there is even a quota, or something similar ???

I can imagine that gets pretty annoying after awhile. I can see where some people may be lost and might buy into it, but ya know, for a lot of people it is quite obvious whether they are gonna what to buy what you have to sell.
