Welcome, Aaron!
Right about the news media. Not entirely certain about Berg, some people do achieve a remarkable ability to forgive. But forgiveness extends to all, not to just a select few, so I don't think he's there yet.

I don't think that's unreasonable

News channels often repeat the biggest story of the day a whole lot of times, and they make short blurbs about them so you will hear the same sound bytes over and over if you watch the same channel that long.  Happens all the time, not just on Fox or with that story.

About Mr. Berg - he's obviously lost it. It takes mental gymnastics not to blame the person who held the knife for a murder.

What did I observe about Berg and Sheehan being soulmates?

They are both unhinged by grief and the desire to  politicize their sons' deaths. Read Sheehan's comments about the Zarqawi killing at http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2006/6/10/115133.shtml?s=icp

Berg sounds like a grieving father ...
who misses his soon and is looking for someone, something to blame in order to assuage his pain. Very similiar to the miners familes who blamed God for the tragic deaths of their sons, brothers, husbands, fathers.

I guess none of you would know or empathize because the war is a "policy" issue to you chicken hawks. Eager to send someone else's kids but conveniently never got around to signing up yourselves.

Writer

Since the end of WW11, the media have degenerated into a lying, prevaricating circus of vested interest putting forth ever more outrageous views that go largely unquestioned.

In Ulster, in The West Bank and other Arab states, and now in Iraq, nobody has asked the really pertinent question. And it isn't being asked in here either.

If I permit my children to roam the streets, inciting mayhem against anyone -- and I mean anyone -- whose fault is it when they come to harm?

Okay, as a parent, you might hate the English, the Israeli, the Coalition                    " occupying forces" but when you inculcate this hatred in your children, you instigate an endless cycle of violence and death. You are spending your own children's lives to further your own political agenda.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of a situation, when the bullets are flying, keep your kids home!

WofL, Putting a mike in the hands of that man is like terrorists hiding in
civilian homes.  Cannot touch it, too politically incorrect to do so, so it just goes on and on!

Writer,
an excellent post. I only saw a brief clip of Berg, I believe it was on CNN, and was astonished at his reaction. But it's quite clear now: he blames Bush for his son's death, rather than the killer Zarqawi. I wonder whether he would sound as forgiving if the president met with an untimely death...

UGH!!!!
I suppose he was an innocent bystander in all of this.  Geez, some people should not be allowed to breed for fear of passing on the stupidity.
